the legend of Afridi

since the last tribute thread to Sahibzada Shahid Khan Afridi was closed, I’ve opened this thread so that we can all pay our respects to this great cricketer. and discuss any Afridi-related issues that have been keeping you up at night.

following is a QA about Afridi from BW’s site:

interesting that BW says that Affer’s technique is good enough. many experts have slated his technique completely etc yet Bob thinks his only problem is the extra adrenaline pumping through his blood. hmm..

lastly my Afridi question of the day, am I the only one who noticed the weird manner in which Afridi celebrated every time he got a wicket? definitely not kosher. even cricket needs parental ratings now…

For those of us not blessed by any visual image of the match, a little explanation will come in handy. So what was it? I hope he was not showing a finger to the departing batsmen. That would be a violation of the Code of Conduct, I would think.

I saw the match live and did not notice anything out of the ordinary displayed by Affers at the fall of a wicket. Now, if you are hell bent to find something and looking through binoculars, I am sure you will come up with a nose hair or two.

And on Afridi, please stop criticizing his batting finesse and start appreciating what he brings to the game as a package. What he lacks in batting, he surely makes up with bowling and fielding. And to be honest, 20 odd runs in a 10 ball innings ain't bad...

You can judge the effectiveness of Afridi by looking at the way the opposition celebrates the fall of his wicket...it's as if they have won the match. He comes on strong at the fasties and it is very mentally deteriorating for a strike bowler to get sturuck out of the ground in the first couple of overs... Irfan after getting clubbed in the canal and giving away 10 runs in the opening over, never got his ryhthm back.

:D

f&b, :) did you notice something unusual in affers? I was watching it among a crowd of 500 desis, 450:50 Indians:Pakistanis. I would erupt in a bhangRRa style celebration that didn't leave any chance of a action replay...

Asian players have long been accused of celebrating with a little too much passion. but now I’ve seen it with me kaafir own eyes. lets just say that Afridi bhai was seen “taking advantage” of our poor and unsuspecting Moin bhai. Moin bhai being the gentle, trusting soul that he is had no clue what Afridi was upto.

funguy, take a chill pill. I’m just kidding if you can’t tell.

Sambs, if you can't see a Khan and a Afridi sharing a gentle peck around the neck then you must be one jealous guy. :D

It was a brotherly kiss yaar. Now you know why Moin kept calling him 'Laalay dee Jaan'.

I don't see it as any different than Hayden patting Ponting's ass.

I see.

Or rather samby bhai, you see too much. :nono3:

So how do my Indian bhailog like Inzi's rocket throw that caught Dravid short of his ground?. Kaisa Aaloo thaa?. I liked what Amit Varma wrote in his cricinfo article and I quote, " To those Indian fans who loved calling him a Potato, this one was for you."

^ Does the thread heading read "Aloo for you" to you? Afridi, baba... focus. Focus.

:hehe: that was pretty funny. Moin shouting “chall lalay” every other ball.

Faisal bhai, I only say what I see. :snooty:

waisay, man Afridi’s offspinner is one ripper of a delivery. no kidding. not that Yuvraj and Kaif are excellent players of spin like say Ganguly is. but even then Affers was bowling like a demon. even Laxman misread Afridi. adding this offspinner has added a lot of vemon to his bowling. very impressed with his bowling. his batting is still $hite though.

You love the stats for 'New threads'? I know your yearly bonus is tied to this number. :D

Arrey mian, konsa serious topic hay..sub chalta hay.

I think they should start charging $$$ for opening new threads. Then you will be justified in sneaking in threads and talk about other stuff. :-D

Samby Bhaijaan, zara dehaan sai bhaai, Laalay kaho, Lalay nahee. :smack:

Pak vs Ind

-Salman

Just FTP it yaar. Sending a whole match via email??? Its frightening. How big is/are the file/files, anyway?

^^ can you open a new thread for this FTP?

If I were to have something to FTP, I will. Right now we are talking about Afridi's chummay that are in the "tapes".

You must be very lonely and desperate to be looking forward to Afridi's chummay. (And that too to another man).

:hehe:

Faisal bahi aur panga lawao.
