i saw this guy on TV today and his name is 'allaamah Maqsood DoNkey…what kinda surname is that? never heard such name before.

Domak is a river in Iran, where this tribe 'Domki' lived.
Its not Dhomki and if it was, same words in different languages got different meaning. There was a funny column by Khushwant Singh on this issue, where he asked some european delegate to take care of introducing them to Indian public as parts of their names were body parts not to be named in public.
