no it seems like a love story. keanu reeves and sandra bullock are in it. the concept seems kinda weird...the couple are living 2 yrs apart so they are never able to meet at the same time.

I've bought the dvd of this movie. It was funny and I liked the story. But my children thought it was boring. Kate moves out of a lake house to an appartment in town. Alex moves in that same house, but about two years before she's there, somehow they find each others letters in the mailbox and communicate with each other. It's never really explained how it works. That part remains mysterious. The mailbox is the only way they can communicate.
They try to meet each other, which doesn't always work. He does meet her in his own time, when she doesn't know about him yet and she hasn't lived in the lake house yet, he's still in it. He talks to her, while she has no idea who he is. Funny things like that. In the end they do come together. The main message wasn't really about how their special communication worked, maybe that's one of the reasons it was never explained why that happened, the important part of the story line was if one should waite for true love and with that waiting risk never having love or should one just take someone who is just oké and nothing more? The mailbox communication, while he lives in 2004 and she lives in 2006 wasn't that important I think and probably done to make everything more interesting.
There was one thing also not clear at the end. I kept wondering if now that they were together, would they be living in his time in 2004 or in her time, which is 2006?
