It is been a while since Karachi-Lahore drama has taken up the PCB and cricket team, any failure of particular cricketer or from selector/management/board gets into Karachi vs Lahore stunt… seems like Karachi people are complaining that the cricketers from their side are not being selected in the national team and use it as an excuse if any of the cricketer is expelled due to whatever reason…
The latest episode played by Afiridi have done it again, where the so-called star cricketer, who as per his own stats is by no mean a great cricketer, used the Lahore vs Karachi thing to get the sympathy of Allah knows whom???
I am not interested if Afridi is re-instated and i do know that BUTT sahib of PCB ( appointed by the President Zardari) have full support of Zardari in almost all the issues (read blunders) and blunders is what BUTT sahib is best at… so that is what he is doing…
If the issue is about ethnicity nature, then what have the standing committee or the ministers from the Sindh have done about it, why don’t they approach the President ( who is from Sindh) and ask him to remove this chairman of PCB??? what is stopping them??? if they are not capable of doing it then on the same note they do not have right to speak and divide people on cricket…

Afridi was plain stupid in that statement. He could just say that Mr. Iliyas is f....king with the team selection.
Most of the players these days are coming into the national team with some kinds of flaws in their technique. Thats a reality.
Karachi cricketers complain because players from Lahore get way more chances than them. Examples are Taufeeq, Farhat, Hafeez, Butt and many others. Where they would fail for series after series and will still be given chances, where as Karachi player will get couple of chances and we will not hear their names again. Same policy should be applied everywhere. Or its better for Karachi players to stay away from national team for a decade, start their own commercial league, earn money and get ex-players coach youngsters so they won't have flaws that are very common these days. This is also a silent protest (better than begging for a chance). Then produce another Miandad or Asif Iqbal so there won't be any reason for selectors to drop that player.

^^ Kinds of Salman BUTT, Farhat and hafeez didn't get place in team because board have some bias against Karachi players, they were/are in team because somebody know somebody real high up, someone have his FIL as selector and someone is favorite to the captain...
there was a era when most of the players in the team were from Karachi, did we see this kind of statements from Lahore???
Board is in mess since Naseem Ashraf took over and BUTT made it worse, both were appointed by the President belongs to Karachi or Sindh... so whom to blame if they are making stupid mistakes/blunder times after time???
on a different note are you saying because the players from Lahore are getting more chances despite their flaws, same should be done with players of Karachi??? give them chance after chance.... BTW just for the info, the chief selector is also from Karachi...

I don't usually involve in ethnic debates in cricket but smooth_guy has a point. Lets not confuse Zardari from "Sindh" and Chief selector from "Karachi", you look into dynamics of selection, look at persistence with mediocre players vs kicking out after a stint here and there and you will see the picture what has been going on. The policy must be same regardless of which city/province you belong to. We stuck with Salman Butt for 2-3 years? We keep rotating tried and tested failures time after time while some players just show up once in a while for a game or two.
