The Kite Runner

Re: The Kite Runner

About the author, he only lived in afghanistan up until the age of about 7 or so. Most of what he wrote about the taliban is really from his imagination or based on the portrayal in the press.

Re: The Kite Runner

^ Feeling like more than agree. Its the taliban portion actually that disturbed me. Cant believe the regime was so horrible, so to speak. Felt like hating it all. Maybe the writer has presented the facts distortedly, or maybe the distorted picture with all facts. I did smell a kind of exaggeration when it came to the depiction of taliban, and somehow writer sounds partial. Who knows. Other than that, I mean the pre afghanistan trip of Amer and post of it, the writing is gripping and seething with emotions, heart touching ones.

Mahru, this is a very naughty way of collecting info on this book just cause you have to write a book report.

Read it yourself

If you had only looked at the date she posted :aq: :chai:

Re: The Kite Runner

Oh so it took you 3 years to complete that book and to come back and answer her post :hmmm:

Re: The Kite Runner

^ the book might be boring

Re: The Kite Runner

Are you indirectly calling Mirage someone who does not have a taste to enjoy a good read

Re: The Kite Runner

i never read dat book....

Nahi jee. 2 days :chai:

Elegance: How come you think the book might be boring :hmmm: Comeon gurl, its among the best sellers :k:
But fine, I agree, you dont go for it. There are few things that rather leave you disturbed. I had once read Tehmina Durrani’s Blasphemy, and it left me disgusted. And so did a few parts of this book. But taking it as a realistic picture of the afghan community, as it very well might be, if the book is sore at places, it has to be. Reality bites.

Re: The Kite Runner

I have not read the book but HAVE seen the film and cannot WAIT to get the book! It is usually impossible for a film to do proper justice to a good book but the film I thought was so good that I am SO looking forward to reading it
