Pakistan’s greatest batsman is born. From the moment Javed Miandad caressed 163 in his first Test innings, against New Zealand at Lahore in 1976-77, his career was touched by genius.
He is one of only two men (England’s Herbert Sutcliffe is the other) to have a Test average that never dropped below 50. Miandad made 206 in his fourth Test innings, and five double-hundreds in all. The only blot on his copybook is a modest record against West Indies - an average of 29 from 16 Tests - but it was against them that he played perhaps his greatest innings, a matchwinning 116 in Guyana in 1987-88.
There was always the suggestion that you had to knock over all three stumps to get Miandad out at home: he was lbw 15 times in overseas Tests before it happened even once in Pakistan, but he was comfortably one of the finest batsmen of his generation.
Miandad, who also played in a record six World Cups, loved a scrap: most famously, he waved his bat threateningly at Dennis Lillee at Perth in 1983-84, and mimicked Indian wicketkeeper Kiran More’s hyena-like appeal by jumping and shrieking during the World Cup match at Sydney in 1991-92. :hehe:
aik baat hai...apnayJaved Miandad main....aik number ka lalchee banda hai....i have seen him in Sharjah..Mashallah se Paan ke saath saath...Galian bhee khoob datay hai...
Not just his cricketing talent but his attitude that was I a really a fan of, he was probably one of the really few Pakistani cricketers who stood up for himself against Aussies and English players.

dude what do u mean by that! if Javed's Paan chewing habit makes u make a personal comment about him as aperson, then what do u have to say about Wasim,Waqar, Moin,Aaqib, Mushtaq who were caught having Marijuana, and Imran who lived like a playboy through out his career, and he admitts that too.?
oh I remember that like the back of my hand. It was so funny. Kiran was appealing on every goddamn ball and Javed got frustrated and imitated.
A few months back Javad Mainadad was on Shenez Sheikh’s program that used to come on Prime TV and she asked him about that situtation and Javed gave the explanation and Shenaz started laughing and then showed the clips of that situation. Man that was so funny. Happy brithday day Mr. Miandad.
So what? He aint no mom dad burger yar… As for that Sharjah six, he said ‘bus me ne Allah ka naam liya, ankhain band kar te chakkah lada diya’ Oh, and he also said this Saeed once, when he got out and was coming to the pavilion ‘satah khel kar aye ho na’ with a wicket smile. Aint he cool?
there was this song about that sharjah sixer of Javad Miandad, I dont know if it was of late madam Noor Jahan or Mehnaz or Salma Agha but it went like this:
ik chakey kay Javed ko so lakh milein gey
Tausif becharey ko dirham ath(8) milein gey

Pls check the back of your hand again. Kiran More was a wicket-keeper. He didn't bowl.

Well Umair, SHoaib was coined Rawalpindi Express in the early days of his career. Miandad was always termed as a street fighter but never "karachi street fighter". I just heard it now from you after 7 years of his retirement.

Does it really mattered who it came from, if Shoaib can be named Rawalpindi Xpress in early part of his career and Miandad can be name Karachi Street fighter in the later part of his career, both of them are named after some cities, so its no different
