Fellow human beings,
May humanity prevail over terrorism. let not the guerillas take the name of "mujahideen" and attract religious sentiments in their militant attempts. Militancy by any name would continue to be militancy, in Kashmir's case, the guerillas aren't Kashmiris. They are merceneries, mostly Afghans ( Taliban, hence the support for sunnis). They chose Kargil as it is a Shia town. The Kashmiris aren't interested. It's the people of Kargil who are suffering the most. Thousands have been forced to leave their homes because of the guerillas.
Supporting terrorism would be aiding in a crime against humanity. Let us think over it and decide, do we support the guerillas simply because they are of the religion into which we were born into ? shouldn't we look at their policies too? Does the word "Jihad" from the Quran give them the right to massacre innocents, just because their religious faith is not Islam?
Queer,
If you want to make a point then try to do it without using any of the following key phrases;
Militancy
Terrorism
Fundamentalist
Humanity
Insurgency
These scare words are growing stale now and they are losing their fear factor which is what they were designed for. If you can name me one country that does not fight for what it believes in then you will have won the argument.
Now try taking all of the above words out of your next reply and we may be able to start addressing the underlying issues which really matter.
queer,
we need education.
jewels,
education? Does education really prevent religious fanaticism?
Mr Xtreme,
Maybe you are right about them being scare words, but then, you must agree that "mujahideen" has become synonymous with "militants" and "jihad" is equivalent to "terrorism".
Lets add these word too to your list.
Jihad
Mujahideen
Holy War (oxymoron?)
Freedom fighters (use the more informative term, "brain washed youth")
The "underlying issue" ,as you call it, is that, misuse of religion to attract support from people to kill people of other religions is plainly unfair. I am surprised that no muslim body has openly come up condemning such acts that project Islam as the religion of terrorists ( excuse me Xtreme, had to make a point).
dear queer,
education alone can prevent religious fanaticism.
If the educational affairs in pakistan do not improve, in about 50 years, we will see that pakistan and afghanistan will actually spread great unrest in the world.
They rejected the modern ways of the prophet sent to them, and are stuck to the violent and uncivilized ways of their forefathers. History repeating itself yet again.
Queer,
You state:
"The underlying issue ,as you call it, is that, misuse of religion to attract support from people to kill people of other religions is plainly unfair. I am surprised that no muslim body has openly come up condemning such acts that project Islam as the religion of terrorists."
Please refer to my thread dated May 29,'99: U.N. DEFEATS BILL EQUATING ISLAM WITH RIGHTS VIOLATION & TERRORISM to gain understanding.
It is informative that the appeal is to Sunni brothers when kashmiris in Kargil are shias mainly.
