If Japanese don't eat them, then the whales will die a useless death at the north pole and rot. Its much better to have them be useful for both scientific research as well as sushi for those who appreciate sushi. Rather then stopping the Japanese, we should start a fundraising to subsidize some costs of capturing these whales. The poor Japanese should not be asked to foot the entire bill.
