The Islamic republic of Iran is deaf: Iran warning on sanctions threat

I am not sure this guy should be serving in Iranian foreign ministry. Idiotic statements like this can land his country into a lot of trouble. He says and I quote: The Islamic republic of Iran is deaf to the language of threats Hamid Reza Asefi Iranian Foreign Ministry.

Countries can never be deaf or dumb. The moment they do, others will quickly come by to install new ears and new tounge. $stupid MAToos will drag Iran and the whole region into another turmoil. Damn MAToos!

Iran warning on sanctions threat
Iran has warned the UN’s atomic agency not to refer it to the Security Council over its nuclear programme.

A referral could lead to UN sanctions against the Islamic republic.

Tehran hinted that such a move could prompt it to start uranium enrichment as well as a uranium conversion process that has already been resumed.

The remarks came after the UK foreign secretary described as “unhelpful” an assertion by Iran’s president that Iran had a right to produce nuclear energy.

The US and the EU want Iran to give up any idea of enrichment capability.

Tehran recently resumed uranium processing, an activity that had been suspended since November 2004 while talks were held with three European countries - the UK, France and Germany - about its long-term nuclear plans.

Western powers fear Iran secretly wants to develop the ability to make a nuclear bomb.

The board of governors of the UN’s nuclear agency (IAEA) is meeting on Monday in Vienna.

‘No use bullying’

But Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi said a political decision by the board would further complicate matters.

“Enrichment is not on the agenda for the time being but if the IAEA meeting on Monday leads to radical results, we will make our decision to correspond to that,” he said.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is deaf to the language of threats,” he added.

“We hope that they follow the path of logic so the case returns to a normal path. The language of bullying has never had any use in the past.”

On Saturday Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told the UN his country had an “inalienable right” to produce nuclear energy - but said Islam precluded Iran having atomic weapons.

He said Iran’s programme was entirely legal and attacked what he called a “nuclear apartheid” that permits some countries to enrich fuel, but not others.

‘No alternative’

UK Foreign Secretary Jack Straw said the speech was “disappointing”, given recent talks with Iran over its nuclear stance.

“It is a difficult moment for the international community,” he added.

An EU spokeswoman told Reuters news agency Mr Ahmadinejad’s language “leaves us no alternative but to pursue a UN referral”.

“However, we want to build an international consensus on the matter. So we will be consulting with everybody,” she said.

French Foreign Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy said the option of reporting Iran to the Security Council to face possible sanctions “remains on the agenda.”

But BBC diplomatic correspondent Bridget Kendall said it was not certain whether the US and EU partners would convince other countries that Iran deserved to be reprimanded.

Iran has invited other nations to collaborate on its nuclear activities, which may for some sound like an attractive offer, she says.

Iran’s complaint that there is a double standard about who is allowed to become a nuclear power may be met with some sympathy, our correspondent adds.

Re: The Islamic republic of Iran is deaf: Iran warning on sanctions threat

well just like no one likes to give in to the terrorists, just like that why should iran give in to these countries & their demands? they have a powerful enemy in israel breathing down their neck with 350+ nuclear war-heads and you are saying they should listen to these pathetic countries like UK and USA. they have every right to aquire nuclear capabilities just like pakistan. its in their best interest and they simply should not listen to terrorists nations like UK and USA.

Re: The Islamic republic of Iran is deaf: Iran warning on sanctions threat

According to Mahtir Mohammed the former Prime Minister of Malaysia, "The US and the UK are the greatest terrorist states in the world.....".
So, if terrorist states like Israel, the US and Britain could have nuclear weapons then it is imperative that every country should have nuclear weapons. This is the only way militarily weak nations can preserve their sovereignty from these wicked wolves and prevent what happened to Iraq.

Re: The Islamic republic of Iran is deaf: Iran warning on sanctions threat

US an EU are playing around. Iran should just go ahead and ignore the lil kids. Even if it's reported to security council, Irans got nothing to lose, cuz the west have no ground to stand on.

Re: The Islamic republic of Iran is deaf: Iran warning on sanctions threat

true

Re: The Islamic republic of Iran is deaf: Iran warning on sanctions threat

Re: The Islamic republic of Iran is deaf: Iran warning on sanctions threat

I think Isreal should also get rid of nuclear arsenal. Dont you think Isreal having nuclear weapons creates an imbalance in power in the whole region?

Re: The Islamic republic of Iran is deaf: Iran warning on sanctions threat

^ while i am not advoating Iran develop nuclear weapons, but i do have a problem with Israrel having one. It destabilizes the over-all security of the middle east. You already have a huge conventional arsenal, why do you need to build nuclear weapons? If israel built one as a defense strategy to thwart the nuclear threat of another Arab country, then that would be understable. it is clearly not the case.

I dont know why we americans pump money into this country when americans are dying in our own backyard?

Re: The Islamic republic of Iran is deaf: Iran warning on sanctions threat

I disagree. Israel never threatened to blow up any country. Iran openly threatens Israel…and therefore it must give up their nuclear weapons.

Re: The Islamic republic of Iran is deaf: Iran warning on sanctions threat

Sugarplum, they dont have one yet. They can’t give anything back even if they want to.:stuck_out_tongue:

When a country armed with conventional weapons threatens you, you encounter that threat with conventional weapons, which israel has plenty. Standard rules of engagement, so as not to exacerbate an already explosive situation.

Re: The Islamic republic of Iran is deaf: Iran warning on sanctions threat

The problem with nuclear weapons is that once a particular country has them, any country in political conflict with it must have nuclear arms or face certain defeat in case war erupts.

The USA had nuclear arms, and as a result the USSR and China developed them.

Pakistan only began a nuclear arms project after 1974 when India detonated a nuclear warhead.

Iran is being forced into having nuclear arms because it's primary political rival has nuclear arms.

Re: The Islamic republic of Iran is deaf: Iran warning on sanctions threat

Rubbish. Any other state would behave the same, Israel included.

Given that Israel has nukes, Pakistan has nukes, and most likely Saudi Arabia has nukes…really, I doubt they would be threatening anyone anytime soon.

Re: The Islamic republic of Iran is deaf: Iran warning on sanctions threat

Y'all supporting Iranian bomb tend to ignore an important fact! Iran cannot face off even a conventional Western attack, let alone a Nukie one.

The key to success in this world is to challenge someone in your own league. As soon as you are out of your league, you are history, and your country has no geography. Kapeesh!!
