The Iraqi Boy.

On which side do you stand? :)

Ouch - war side-effects. No one ever said war is a good thing.

that's my point - why do I have to take a side?

War is bad - period. I never understood where humans get the motivation to kill other humans. You know, we're the only species that does it.

You have to take sides if one is the opressor and the other is the opressed. Can you just sit back and keep saying 'why do you fight?', while the opressor never stops?

Humans are not the only species who kill. Animals also kill. Do you know that in cats, if a male wants a female, he kills the kittens? Do you know where the term cannibalism originates from?

However, there is no comparison to be made between humans and animals. If animals kill, that is not a justification for humans to kill. At the same time, it is not a perfect world -- but a constant struggle between the good and the evil. That will be the case until the humanity approaches its ends. Until then there will be both evil and good, the opressor and the opressed. You have to chose whose side you take. If one doesn't, he will be at a loss.

and what if both sides were evil? Evil fighting evil for power and control?

With the good as innocent bystanders?

I too will be standing with the bystanders too, 'provided' both are evil.

(No.... I will prefer to counter both evils if I can... but thats just me.)

So, in the end it all depends on one's realization of the two parties as evil or good. Do you assume that the Iraqi Resistance Movement is evil? Is it really for land and power, and not for regaining there freedom?

Atleast you recognize the US as the evil one! :)

its not about whether i think the US is evil, although those words always seem to somehow sound like victory for you people...I never understood why...there are American muslims too you know.

Its not whether one country is evil or not. Most leaders are evil. Period.

And if tehy're not evil, they're easily swayed by it or bribed by it.

Clarification... we are not talking about America in general. We are talking about whats going on in Iraq and where everyone stands in that perspective.

If your country/leaders do something wrong, you personally won't have the blame unless you back their opinion and actions. If thats not the case, there is no need to feel guilty. :)

I'm not backing anyone's claims, FYI. My claim is that the Iraqis have some responsibility in all of this. Especially the Iraqi governement.

True that some Iraqis share the blame, especially the baathists. However, most of them aren't even in the picture any more. What the US Army is fighting is not Saddam's loyalists. These are ordinary Iraqi people.

What should a father do if he sees his sons being killed due to preemptive, unprovoked and without-any-reason attacks? ... that considering the fact that he was also oppressed by the baathists? Should he just sit silent, watch his remaining family die, reconcile with the Americans and take this undeserved-blame to the grave?

the problem is much more entrenched than that.

It goes down to how we're raised, and what values we instill in our socieities. Despite being muslim, our societies are weak because of weak values, and weak morales. Hence, we're easy targets.

So then do you blame the wolf for running after the sheep? Or do you blame the sheep for not running?

So American Forces attacked Falluja because they wanted the insurgent's homes? I'm not sure real estate in the sunni triangle is a very good investment at this time.

Face it, the baathists are encouraging and supporting the insurgency with the religion angle. Democracy is the last thing they want and you're blind if you don't see that.

ok u r getting on the different track. it is another issue about how come we are attacked so often and yes it is due to our being lazy in implementing islam but the point is that we cant straighten our house while invaders are in it...we gotta flush them out and then inshallah get it straight...

its the SAME track.

hence our failure.

By letting the Americans rape Iraq, the Muslims will be committing yet another mistake.
