the Internets never forget

One thing to remember - the Internets never forget: Whatever you post will stay online until the last server fails and the lights go out on planet earth. So please keep that in mind before posting anything stupid or brainless - especially anything that could get you (or anyone else) fired, hurt, dumped, or sued.

Re: the Internets never forget

The internet never forgets...

Re: the Internets never forget

thnx for correcting the grammer …

Re: the Internets never forget

and i disagree :)

Its same like saying this bulb never turns off ... If u know how bits work :)

Re: the Internets never forget

n y do u disagree?

Re: the Internets never forget

Cauz its same mistake as when bill gates said that 32K gona be enough for each person ... and now it looks like a stupid comment.

1st thing, Its Internet ... not Internets

2nd thing, Internet figure prints are just bits and bytes. Same like any other data on u'r hard disk. If we can remove data from our hard disk, than we can also remove these figure prints. Some people might say, no only address of data deletes not the real data. But fact of the matter is that it depends how u delete the data and how much it is recoverable.

Plus there is tons and tons of data online. When u said **Whatever you post will stay online until the last server fails. **It means all the servers r some sort of out of world thingy ... with unlimited resources ... its also not true.
These r only few things i mentioned, but there are lot of other factors too. :)

Re: the Internets never forget

I think now (was not thinking like that earlier) that if you are anybody, wants to be somebody in life, you should never post crap under you name.

Employers, now a days, while doing a background check, very often do a google search on your name and I read an article where potential employee's Face Book and MySpace accounts poping up with questionable profiles and pictures.

Even if one has a screenanme like chunkylover59 but in the porfile, he/she gave real info, that is dangerous.

Re: the Internets never forget

Even if things are gone from your Internet server or your IPP goes bankrupt and you did not have backup then there is a bigger authority which remembers, no not Allah , he is the biggest.
I am talking about waybackmachine here is the link, enjoy and try to dig out your or someone else past .

Amazing , isn’t it ? And you thought you know better. Now don’t start crying.

Re: the Internets never forget

Doesn’t somebody need to submit something for archiving for that to work? I’m pretty sure it does.

Re: the Internets never forget

nah ..... no 1 need to submit nefin ........ they just visit each n every site ........ like search engines ....... n collect the data

Re: the Internets never forget

The internet shouldn't be taken so seriously. Especially forums.
