So, there’s SRT remaining now. I wonder if two of the other three, Laxman and Ganguly were greats?
I think it has been more about Indian selectors putting faith in them and consistently selecting them, enabling them to continue with confidence. Laxman, for example, has played far more tests than Yousuf (similar batting positions and career span in years).
Re: The Indian Fab Four
Umm, with Yousuf its not just about selectors. Its also about his own tantrums. How many times has he quit and come back and quit and come back and quit. He mustve missed many tests because of his own drama.
Anyway, the term great is subjective and could mean different things to different people.
I think Ganguly is a modern great given his performance in forms and his inspiring captaincy. Laxman is debatable.
Re: The Indian Fab Four
If you take out last 2 series I thought Laxman had a great career? Esp vs the mighty Aussies in Australia. Whenever I followed Ganguly ( very little) he seemed to be a lame duck to chin music.
