If you want to be physically as well as mentally healthy, you should take enough sleep according to your requirement. People around the world suffer from tens of hundreds of sleep disorders due to which they live a very disturbed, lazy and difficult life.
Lack of Sleep
There are a few signs they may indicate the lack of sleep. These include slow reaction time of the body, loss of emotions and unawareness of what is going around, moodiness and disinhibition. If a person reaches the maximum limit of hours he can remain waked up, he starts to sleep immediately for small periods of time while sitting, driving , reading e.t.c. This could be 10 seconds or even less. This is extremely dangerous and caused loss of lives all over the world. So do not drive while you are sleepy.
Sleep Requirements
Sleep requirements might be different for each person. Generally people need 7 to 9 hours of sleep everyday in order to remain healthy. Sleep requirements for certain groups of people e.g. pregnant women, those who perform tiring jobs are body builders are higher than others.
Tips to get good sleep:
- Always sleep and get up at the same time
- Go to toilet before going to bed
- Don’t drink or eat caffeine four to six hours before bed and try to minimize its use during the daytime.
- Switch off most of the lights a few minutes before going to bed, in order to get your brain ready to sleep
- Smoking will wake you up from your sleep
- Avoid alcohol
- Do aerobic or anaerobic exercises regularly
- Try going to bed early and wake up early in the next morning, without an alarm
- Eat less
- Read a book before going to bed
- Keep the temperature constant and moderate
