Is choice an illusion ?
Re: The Illusion of Choice
Not illusion, but choices sometimes are based on delusions.
Re: The Illusion of Choice
Can you elaborate.
Re: The Illusion of Choice
There are no choices in this world, just ILLUMINATI
Re: The Illusion of Choice
Illuminati…one of the conspiracy theories ![]()
Re: The Illusion of Choice
depends on your belief system.
Re: The Illusion of Choice
YES… Me Believe in Conspiracy Stories
Re: The Illusion of Choice
How ?
Re: The Illusion of Choice
LP, not taking a decision is still exercising a choice, right? It’s the choice to do nothing and it can be based on various reasons. But that choice or option exists…it’s not an illusion. Your choice can be in accordance with majority views, or go against the grain, or be completely selfish, or proactive, or passive, etc. The possibilities in choices are not illusions. However, the choices or decisions we make can sometimes be based on delusions…or how we wish to see/interpret things when the reality may be very different.
Re: The Illusion of Choice
Now that needs another thread ![]()
Re: The Illusion of Choice
Or maybe to an extent what you’re saying makes sense. If you’re presented with a certain image or opportunity that is actually false or not what it appears to be…then that option or choice can be an illusion.
Re: The Illusion of Choice
its about predestination…because whats going to happen is already written…and the choices you are going to make are also already written… so infact when you see a choice/option…it really isn’t there…because its predestined what course of action is going to be taken…it doesn’t really matter if you had a thousand choices or two or no choice at all…
Re: The Illusion of Choice
Do you mean it depends on individual situations & not applicable everytime ?
Re: The Illusion of Choice
If that’s the case, then why are we punished for the choice(sins) we make ?
Why have we been given a brain to think , analyze then act ? Why aren’t we programmed like animals ?
Re: The Illusion of Choice
i said it depends on your belief system… i merely pointed out an example of a belief sysem where the choices are illusions… i don’t necessarily believe in that…
Re: The Illusion of Choice
Hmm…tough questions, Lp. If a choice is presented (either on paper or in person) in a way that it sounds/appears much better than what the acuality is…then I guess you can call it an illusion. Our failure to thoroughly investigate it encourages the illusion. Sometimes we don’t think clearly…and our choices can be based on our delusions…or maybe we attach unrealistic outcomes hopes /illusions with certain choices. I need to think some more on whether it’s applicable everytime.
Re: The Illusion of Choice
Its simple. You can either do something or not do it. That is your choice. You can either have breakfast or not. You can decide to have an apple or not. You can decide to drive the car or walk. That is a choice. There is no element of illusion. This whole idea that choice is an illusion is simply used by people so they don’t take responsibility for their own actions.
