A play actor -- someone who pretends to be holy, is showy about religious observance, but doesn't care for justice, doesn't treat others well, is dishonest, arrogant, self-righteous, has a holier-than-thou attitude.

as per holy Quran Karim, some of the pointers are as follows explaining the attributes of hypocrites
3:167)......They say with their mouths what is not in their hearts. And Allah knows well what they conceal.
4:61) And when it is said to them, ‘Come ye to what Allah has sent down and to His Messenger,’ thou seest the hypocrites turn away from thee with aversion.
63:1)When the hypocrites come to thee, they say, ‘We bear witness that thou art indeed the Messenger of Allah.’ And Allah knows that thou art indeed His Messenger, but Allah bears witness that the hypocrites are surely liars.
