musharraf has made big mistakes by sacking, jailing and exiling these people.
he should learn from the CIA, and thats to kill them on the spot and bury the whole incident at once, imagine if nawaz shirff, bibi, choud iftikar, etc. were dead, pakistan will be much peacefull today.

If CJ was innocent, corrupt indecent Judges of Supreme Court should not have ruled to stop SJC to do investigations on CJ as investigations cannot harm a clean person, but then in a country where thieves and corrupt rule and have similar supporters, this is norm.
But what you guys are conveniently forgetting is because the CJ Ifti went to the public, the SJC perhaps plucked up the courage to break away with tradition and throw away the presidential reference against the CJ.** Had it not been for the huge public uproar and anger in the aftermath of his suspension**, these judges might have just rubber-stamped the orders of a military dictator as many Supreme Court Judges have done before them. So you can look at it from another angle.
So you are saying that it was actually so-called public pressure that got him restored, than the actual merits of the case? It is fact that the case against the ex-CJ was only dismissed on techinical grounds, and the merits of the allegations were not even touched. Nearly 4 months on the SC still had not released their full court judgement, which proves that they did not examine the corruption allegations.

Reza, are you saying that merits of the case were not investigated. I can now understand why the SC has not released the full judgement.

That's correct. Till the 3rd November Emergency the Supreme Court had still not released their full court judgement on the CJ restoration case, which they had decided on technicalities, not merits. Close to 4 months and no full judgement - were those judges too lazy, or just too scared of their boss Ifti? Either way to this day nobody has really investigated those allegations of corruption against him.
oh man there are people in the current govt who are murderers and have been involved is serious corruption.and you wanted to send a refference against the chief justice because he wanted to drive a bmw?give me a break.l
Sharaam should come to CJ, and his supporters who want a corrupt and immoral CJ to stay in office and believe that the persons who want to clean the Judiciary should go. What a shame and disgusting. Which goes to show that the Supreme Court judges used the law in their own (colleague) favor, but again it was still within the laws, no? Does it not show weakness of the law? and what does Musharraf do, sack the whole supreme court instead of modifying law to make judges accountable to nation, and we have people support Musharraf wah wah.

Sharaam should come to the dictator, and his supporters who want a corrupt and immoral dictator to stay in office and believe that the persons who want to clean the country should go. What a shame and disgusting. If dictator was innocent, he should not have declared emergency to stop SC from ruling on his legality as investigations cannot harm a clean person, but then in a country where thieves and corrupt rule especially in the heart of the govt and have similar supporters, this is norm.
I mean, what is up with the good people at Harvard Law School or New York Bar for that matter? Don’t they know better? A world full of judges and they could only pick a hypocrite, terrorist freeing, corrupt judge?
Just wondering if same logic can (in your view) validate Mush's first take over as he had the "public support"?
Was he (Mush) right to break the constitution then in your eyes?
Yeah that's a bitter pill for everyone to swallow. bhai mere (as Jamali would say it) That was considered the lesser of the two evils AT THE TIME. I am not against Mush per se but yes I am most definitely against army rule. I hope all the political parties learn a harsh lesson from that experience, that when dictators break the constitution they don't just come in for a few days or a few months but for a good decade or so. Hence they would be wise enough not to support any such unconstitutional steps in the future whatever their rivalry with the elected leader of the time. Believe you me Zia would still be president if he had not died in a plane crash. He had no intention whatsoever of leaving. Some reporter even joked with him once, " Do you want to break Fidel Castro's (Cuba) record?"

I don't think that is possible, considering how rewarding this military rule has been for PML-Q, MQM and some others too.

I dont see our political parties learning any lesson from their experiences. They will still cut-and-rule if they get chance .......
July 20 - ex-CJ Iftikhar restored by Supreme Court on technical grounds. Full judgement to follow.
November 2 - still waiting for full judgement to explain reasons for above judgement, and explain how judges should be held accountable for allegations of corruption etc.
Judges were sjust dragging their feet in holding their own accountable, while they ordered others around about their alleged misdeeds.
