The horrors of showering your small child

Bathing time was fun when they were babies, but when they became toddlers, they hated it and boy did they show it!

Both my sweeties would scream like someone was after them. Ear deafening and horrible.

Now my daughter has stopped doing that. (she should, being 8 years by now!)
But my son is still hates it. I’ve been advised to put a washand on his eyes before I shampoo his hair, well the minute that washand becomes wet, the screams come out once again…

I could put plugs in my ears or perhaps cotton…

What do you do to comfort a 6-year old in this situation? Toys won’t help under the shower either.

Hm, perhaps I should have his head shaved then to avoid shalmpooing? No, just kidding.

Re: The horrors of showering your small child

i think u should give ur son a bubble bath perhaps

2 enhance his joy of takin a bath and havin good hygiene

takin bubble baths r very fun in my opinion:)

Re: The horrors of showering your small child

Wow a 6 year old giving you trouble with taking a bath? My cousin sits in his bath, has his boats and toys to play with and really enjoys it! Do you let him take toys in the bathtub?

Re: The horrors of showering your small child

I guess bath goggles(spell?) so the soap or shampoo doesn't get into their eyes

Re: The horrors of showering your small child

giving baths to baby scare the living daylights outta me.. Im afraid i'd drown them somehow cuz theyre so teeny tiny... (might have something to do with me beng a clutz)

Re: The horrors of showering your small child

That’s a great idea, but the problem is, I only have a shower and no bath.

Re: The horrors of showering your small child

When he was about two, I stopped giving him baths, because he wouldn’t fit in the baby bath tubby anymore.

From that moment, the trouble started when ever I would put him under the shower. The minute even a drop of water touches his eyes, it’s panic big time!

Re: The horrors of showering your small child

My God, you’re a genious! Why on earth didn’t I come up with that one myself?!

Thanks a lot.

I’m off today buying a pair of goggles. I’ve never heard of bath goggles though. You mean there are special goggles to use while showering/bathing?

Re: The horrors of showering your small child

The first time was scary for me too! When my daughter was born, it was the first time I actually held such a tiny little baby in my arms. I was so afraid to lift her.

Later a nurse taught me how to hold a baby in the bath tubby, you know, your hand crossing under the babies armpit and holding it’s arm while the babies head is resting on on your wrist.

It wasn’t scary after that. I’m so clumsy too (my parents used to call me Frank Spencers sister, and when they aired ‘you rang m’lord?’ they started to call me Ivy!) but thank God it went fine with my babies.

Re: The horrors of showering your small child

No they are cute, colored, cartooned goggles for kids to have fun during bath. They should be with kid’s bath accessories(spell?). If you can’t find the fancy ones just go with any, i guess

Re: The horrors of showering your small child

Such a simple solution for something that has been a problem for such a long time! I bought a pair of plain ones today. Thanks again. :)

Re: The horrors of showering your small child

I miss giving baths to a baby.
She is a brat now.

Re: The horrors of showering your small child

they have headbands for kids also...specifically made for baths.

Re: The horrors of showering your small child

Headbands for bathing time? Never heard of those, thanks for the tip. :)
