Re: The Henna Sooq: Mehndi Services, and Products!

quick question, what is the glitter mehndi and how long does it last?
i cant imagine it 2 b real thing.

Well glitter mehndi can be several things.

  • Glitter Gel: That you can find it bottles or cones. It is just a good quality, loose glitter mixed with a strong gel. It dries on the skin and can last the day perhaps. Water washes it off easily and it can flake a bit.
  • Loose Glitter: Use to "poof" onto fresh mehndi designs. it sticks onto the paste and crumbles away when the paste falls off. Adds a nice bit of dazzle while the henna is on.
  • Glitter tattoos: This is the most effective way to keep glitter on. The base is an acrylic cosmetic adhesive that is applied on the skin into a stencil or as a freehand design and then you "poof" the loose glitter onto that so it sticks. You brush away the excess and there you have a glitter tattoo and that lasts 4-5 days. You can't make wudhu with this method though as the glitter tattoo blocks the water from reaching the skin. Of course this only applies to places where wudhu is necessary to be valid, such as hands, feet etc...

Hope this helps!

Khadija

Oh one more thing, glitter mehndi usually does not contain any henna in it, not amongst professional henna artists. Glitter would just get in the way of making the henna stain well.

Hi ikhlaq, since this is bazar talk and the reason for my post was to tell others of what I do, and this was my own post. Could you please post your own bazar links in your own thread or message? Because Sabina is not a henna artist affiliated with the Henna Sooq.

Thanks I appreciate that!

thanks henna for xplaining about 'glitter mehndi'. I had a feeling that it wont last long. but it does look pretty tho. and you do good work yourself. :biggthumb

welcome!

Absolutely. Anything I post up belongs to me. I don't take pictures or show other people's work as amongst professional henna artists that is looked down on and is considered like stealing from others. Every artist/person works hard to make beautiful mehndi work and pays a lot of money for their photos (ie the purchase of a good camera, photoshoots, etc...)
