The persons responsible for the Pakistani split were the west pakistanis themselves. With their air of moral superority they could not digest the fact that the people of east pakistan had any rights !!!

Mistakes were on both sides but W. Pakistani army-bureacracy-feudal elite, since they "ruled" Pakistan, had more at stake!
They rather let go of 'bingos' than share power with them.

Maybe except the mentions of 71 and/or some diehards, bangladesh is far off for us (now i remember, we used to call a cut off standalone place in our school as bangladesh lol

Kashmir not only is closer ethnically and religiously to northern pakistan but also holds the jungular vein of water.

linguistic dispute was a major cause also, old Pakistani stamps have the name of the country written in 3 languages to appease the east pakistanis.But as mentioned the "military-bureacary-feudal elite" of W.Pakistan were also an important factor

Not trying to be rude, but 'losing' Bangladesh is hardly a reason to be upset.
The country is crap and its people abroad always occupy the lowest socio-economic grouping.

^ but that's hard to agree. Losing part of the country for any reason hurts patriotism. losing it after fighting a war to keep it is doubly hurtful to the pride. It's never a good thing

except for that Bangladeshi was a thug. who talked abt freedom, democracy and blah blah but killed and jailed thousands of his own country men for the sake of power. it took a brutal military coup for Bangladesh to get rid of its very first dictator. even today Awami league thugs are bitching and winning all the times becuz they are not getting to share the cake.
