The Guru - A New English Desi Movie

Yes, that’s right, a new english desi style movie.

I went to see The Hot Chick, and a tralier for this started playing. It stars the main character of East is East (the son), Heather Graham, and Marisa Tomei.

It’s about this guy from India, who comes to New York and becomes a Waiter. Then he like is taken for a “spirtual healer” and becomes famous.

Check it out, looks pretty funny, and also many Canadian’s were laughing a lot at the trailer in the theatre.

The Guru

yeah seen it...

its a good comedy. Made for the mature audience. Got nudity in it....

But nevertheless....a good entertainer.

   tut tut i haven’t watched the whole of the film but the parts that i have watched are too rude

this film is really a waste of time

it has toooooooooo much nudity and it expolits the opposite gender.

Hmmm I saw it, but didn’t like it. Maybe I had high expectations or something because EAST IS EAST was so much better. The humor in “The Guru” was dry as hell. They had the same jokes as “American Desi”. The same stereotyped situations. It wasn’t what I thought. I hope though “Bollywood Hollywood” is better becauase it has Rahul Khana in it and man that dude is HOT I mean really HOT :yummy:

^
yeah ooooooooooooooooooooook!!!!(or whatever :D)

where do u live?
it was made in states and if anyone sees it the first that wud be, without any doubt, the americans and ppl there haven't seen it.

BTW, besides all these tiny things, r u sure in was "The Guru" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just saw this flick on PPV, I must say, Heather Graham was looking nice in that Indian outfit, and danced really well to the Indian tunes! It was a nice movie!

Just so you all know, the title was originally intended to be 'The Guru of Sex' but then painfully chopped down later for some very obvious reasons.

hmm, if the obvious reasons were the audience, well thats not a very good reason, since they used that title lots of times in the script? However, the shorter the title, the better it is.

Script was hollow. They were banking on the nudity to help them sell it.

Pathetic really.

PCG, I didnt see too much nudity in that film, there was just one scene, thats about it... The movie was funny though, there were other aspects that carried the movie on, like Heather Graham dancing like an Indian actress.

I saw it and thought it was ok. The humour is a bit crass and vulgar but it's basically a comedy and it made me laugh...so job done. Yes there was stereo-typing but at least it was funny. I thought it compared pretty well with the angst-ridden turgid stuff that foreign born desis produce with their predictable and yawn-inducing parent/arranged marriage dilemmas.
