under-activity of the thyroid gland. Maybe due to disease of the thyroid gland itself, or secondary to hypothalamic pituitary disease (here there is a lack of thyroid stimulating hormone). Symptoms include weight gain, thickening of the skin, fatigue, bradycardia and constipation.
