The great PDA debate - part II

Let’s talk about some of Palm OS 5.0 applications/tools/skins. What do you recommend? What do you use? Are there some good resources except palm.com where you can try out some of the softwares? I’m presently looking for some better skins.

Re: The great PDA debate - part II

This is rich.

Anyway, I like the Sony Clie. I am getting one today. But ther are som many of them. What can I get for $600. That’s my limit.

Chaltahai, Clie is a bit too expensive and sophisticated for your taste. Pick something up from Walmart instead.

I am serious ROman. I got a some moolah to burn on a toy. (relax people). I like the clie but the MF has like 9 different versions. I need to know what will work for me. You know my lifestyle, so as a technically astute person, maybe you can advise this non-technical person on the gimmeckry and the profundity that can be gotten though a PDA.

Again, you're talking way out of your league but I say go for PEG-NX70V.

Chaltahai, are you crazy man? For $600, we can get two round trip to the Bahamas and a weekend stay at a decent hotel. Drinks on me. Will let you know the dates after I check my PDA.

:hehe: , Comparing a PDA with a vacation price, :),

Chaltahai,

I got a Clie about 2 months back and I still think it is a great choice. #1 its Palm OS and #2 its Sony. Can't beat! :)

Anyway, to get back to the point, it depends entirely on what you need it for. If you want to use it like I do, which is for contact manegement, appointments management, To-do lists primarily... and wish to spend money for a Clie, then definitely go for a color screen. For a Palm OS, CLie has the best color screens. Much better than Palm's own hardware. More importantly color screens will reduce a lot strain on your eyes.

Now, in the color screen, you have basically three choices... go with the one which has a camera built-in. I found no utility for that device, because the camera quality is no where near a proper digital camera, and this thing made the device bulky. Double whammy so I dropped it. And did I say it was way too expensive. Though I did like the feature that it had a swivle screen, and had a proper key board in addition to touchscreen stylus. Quite innovative design, but too bulky for a pocket device.

Next are Sony's PDA cum MP3 players. I had no desire to use my PDA as an MP3 player, so didn't opt for these ones too. In any case, if in future you wish to use your PDA for music, you can always buy the MP3 add-on as an accessory.

So my choice, at that time was PEG-T615C, I guess the new ones with color screens would be equally good. Price-wise you may probably save half of your budget, if you wish. Or else you can go for a Pocket PC which will make u spend the whole 600 bucks and give you some additional features too. Your choice.

i got compaq ipaq… zee best :k:

you can get the new Dell Axiom for 299. here

as for the clie..i find them to be very good. better than palm and compaq. but i dont recommend you go with the NX series. big whoop if they have a camera. but the fact is the pictures such. might aswell get a PEG-T665C Color CLIÉ for 349USD . It has a mp3 player…and with the money you save buy a digital camera…which actually takes photos…not thumbnail images.
