The grass is always greener

How much do you agree with “The grass is always greener on the other side” ? Do we tend to look at circumstances that may be more desirable in our minds, but in reality are not?

Re: The grass is always greener

In bad times, yes. We do downplay the good we have in our life and compare ourselves with others. But if you think about it, there is no comparison between any individual. Everyone has a different level of strength and how much burden they can handle in life.

But when you're in a weak state of mind or the "why me" question, it is very hard to see the big picture.

Re: The grass is always greener

That is true for the most part. And that is the best thing about life, everybody believes they are and are being screwed no matter how much others idolize and envy them.

Re: The grass is always greener

It is about perception and your own mindset. Learn to accept your life however it is (good or bad) and come to terms with it without being bitter or negative about it, and stop comparing your life ot others .... only then will you be able to cherish the small blessings that come your way. Prior to that, chances are you won't even recognize the good things that God has given you.

Re: The grass is always greener

Absolutely true....perhaps it is part of maturing this learning that we should focus on what we have rather than seeing what we don't have.

Sadly many take forever to learn this lesson.

Re: The grass is always greener

The older generation particularly like to reminisce about how good things used to be, conveniently forgetting about the negatives. I hear people complain all the time about the Uk and how they'd like to move, forgetting how lucky they are just to have things like uninterrupted power and water.

Re: The grass is always greener

Well you can always use some fertilizer and a good 'mali' to ensure your grass becomes more green too. Daily watering and sunlight helps too.
