Who appointed him Mufti-e-azam?
I would think such a title would be heriditory, but I'm only guessing.
just by looking at length and grandeur of names one can guess how humble such persons can be..
They dont name themselves that do they! ![]()
Its like saying (as in 1988) :
“The undistuted, undeafeted, WBC,IBF,WBA Heaveyweight Champion of the world Iron Mike Tyson”
He calls himself simply “Mike Tyson”-he has earned the other honors-same ish. ![]()
The noble Shaykh was given this title by the Sunni ulama of India and the Sunni masses.
His actual name is Akhtar Riza Khan. "Hazrat" is used for respect. "al-Azhari" is added because the Shaykh studied at the famous Jamia al Azhar university in Cairo.
It is not a hereditary post although the Shaykh's uncle--the famous and noble Hazrat Mustafa Riza Khan al Qadiri radi Allahu anhu was known as ** Mufti i Azam Hind ** by the whole Muslim world's scholars and masses.
