Just a small thing I wanted to know about. In our family, the guy’s side gives the gold set for both the nikah and the marriage. Is this the normal way or is it usually the other way around ?

Are you talking about shaadi day and valima day? Then yes, in our family the bride wears jewelry given to her by her inlaws on both days.
