The General forum that you miss is the one that was heavily monitored by the cool / elite police. Unfortunately all the cool people have grown up / got married / had kids / moved on / lost interest. This wave started soon after the very controversial decision to eliminate TCR which effectively killed all tharkee-pana and the above crowd which thrived on it.
General has now been invaded by the Cafe janata and renamed to All Views. The forum is now meant for a select few of the Cafe crowd who are getting just a wee bit sick of Cafe but not yet socially matured / seasoned to take on General topics that require heavy use of sarcasm / wit and at the same time totally avoid the use of smilys to make their point.
Some remnants of the General you're looking for can still be be found lurking around GS as free radicals. You will find them if you look hard enough.

as for cave, no, i was banned by X2 at anwar qureshi's sifaarish for a year or so. but thats another story.

The fact is that you were banned by ehsan due to one of the ugliest curse-fests that we have ever seen on GS.

Queer, X2 is not deflecting blames, he is just stating the fact ..
It was decided to unban you as mgmt was communicated that you promised to watch your language in the future. atthat time, your ban/unban/ban/unban happened that was a very short lived phenomenan and was due to a minor miscommunication, at the end of which you were eventually unbanned, that because mgmt trusted your words.
Its not right to jump to conclusions and start pointing fingers when you know only very little of the facts. It just creates bad feelings and that is it.

TLK, what you refer to is the story at the very last set of unbanning. the other two unban-bans happened several months prior to this. there was no miscommunication, in fact i had received a very sweet message from AQ pai about how he will ensure i shall always be banned, right before one of the bans. but i do agree, there is not much point in dwelling on this.

Problem: All Views is the dumping ground of Gupshup. Anything and everything that doesn't have a home elsehwere falls into All Views. In that sense it's worse than Cafe because not only is it a playground for school girls and their boy lovers... but because it's also almost impossible to navigate.
General should be: General used to be the one place on this forum where debates relied on reason in the academic sense. General made for a good read and the people that frequented it were highly intelligent folks that have since abandoned ship.
Those that have stayed behind (queer, pyari, etc) will remember we used to be able to go into General and just rant about every day life, politics... often both. Tempers flared and people disagreed but moderators understood general's members were no-nonsense types and kept at bay. Offense? Personal attacks? Psh. No such thing. People in general had thick skin.
Unfortunately there's no natural place to just rant and rave anymore. Look around and you'll see mods handing out infraction points for anything that remotely resembles an argument, deleting posts that dare to deviate from the topic and locking threads that bring controversy. It sucks. You guys push this whole rebellious "all views" and "unleashed" mumbo jumbo but what good is it?
This is what you should do:
1) Make all-views a subcategory of Cafe.
2) Reintroduce a General that allows for controversy, offtopic replies and personal attacks. If someone wants to say someone's an idiot, they should be allowed to.
While I'm here: Who the **** thought putting a bunch of high fiving retards in charge of this place was a good idea? You did the experiment, it failed miserably, and its now the time to tell the cronies to take a hike.
HSK changing names from general to AV doesn't matter if you guys are back then start posting and bring old environment back.

I never said anything about changing names. What I said was: make All-Views a subcategory under Cafe. That or merge it all together.
We don't need to merge it you start posting again and bring the general back.

All good points and the team has been looking to find a better name than general, and to
as far as "general" or all views go, its less of who was incharge or what the name was but more that the regulars of General are not regular anymore and have not been for sometime, it is the same issue as our sports section where some of the very active people moved on, some got busier and teh character they brought to the place was impacted, others filled the vacuum of let the vacuum stay and that is felt.
please keep suggestions coming.
