Just today I read that Youhanna is declared unfit for Aussie tour due to shoulder injury.
Misbah, a nice player no doubt, is still very green. And Aussie wickets are quite bouncy, where you either need some experience or else an experienced person guiding you in the middle of the ground.

Youhana is back in the team and will be playing the 3 test series.
The match are not being played in AUS, 1st test will be played in colombo, SL and the rest of 2 will be played in Sharjah.
If three tullay (Moin, Afridi and Nazir) are going to form the back-bone of Pakistani batting, tau phir Allah hi hafiz hai.
So, is the news correct, that Youhanna is declared unavailable for Aussie series?
[/QUOTE]
yes.... he is unavailable.
Well I dont think Min and Nazir are tully. If nazir is litle bit careful he can be a match winner batsman. But I agree with you about Afridi. That guy doesnt deserve a place in Oneday team forget about test TEAM. He would be better suited for Baseball.
I think Pakistan should bring in fresh young batsmans into the team. But Saeed Anwar needs to play without a doubt. Pakistani batting without Saeed Anwar is like Srilankan bowling without Murali.
Here is the lineup I think Pakistan should go with.
I think its guarenteed that the bottom four players will be playing, and look at the middle order batsmans, none of them are dependable as known. Youhana is out!
OK let us take a little breather and survey what we know: the following players are not playing: Wasim, Saeed, Inzi, Rashid, Youhanna (?).
Everyone has been (understandably) going on about what our batting will be like without the above! I want to concentrate on our bowling as it is a fact that any chance we have of winning is due to our bowlers who have for the past 10+ years been the best or one of the best in the world:
Wasim
Waqar
Shoaib
Saqlain
Since Wasim is out shouldn't we replace a fast bowler with another fast bowler?:
Sami
Muhammad Zahid
In fact we have been hearing rumours that Zahid will be reintroduced into Test cricket. Well I can't think of a better time than now against the best!
Danesh Kaneria has been the most consistent Pakistani bowler in test cricket for the past year, any time he gets a chance to bowl he gets a 5 wicket haul, eventhough it was against weaksides like Bangladesh, Windies and nZ, but he bowled much better than the other bowlers.
He shouldn't be dropped.
Pitches in Colombo are always Murali friendly pitches so I think it would be wise decsion to go with 2 specialist spinners.
With the likes of Waqar, Shoaib, Razzaq, I don't think we would need another extra speedy to bowl.
Lets just hope that our remaining stars are in 100% shape so we might see a good contest.
I would suggest to go with atleast 2 spinners in the first game, maybe in the 2nd game we might be able to bring in another speedy.
Agreed!
I think our board is being a little too harsh on dropping players.
Specially dropping Saeed Anwar and Rashid Latif was a huge shocker.
I could have understand if our management wanted to bring in a new team against India, Bangladesh or Kenya but bringing an unexperienced squad against the inform Aussies is suicidal.
It won't matter how good the new batsmans will be but against Aussies we need experience. Saeed has a good record against them in test.
I hope Waqar and Yawar Saeed think about their decisons again before test.
KARACHI (Reuters) - Pakistan batsman Yousuf Youhana has been ruled out of next month’s test series against Australia with a shoulder injury, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) director Chishty Mujahid said on Tuesday.
“Doctors carried out a bone scan on Youhana’s shoulder today in Kandy and it was confirmed he would not be able to play the test series,” Mujahid told Reuters.
“Youhana will not be considered because doctors have advised him to take four to six weeks rest.”
Youhana is the fourth senior member of the crisis-hit Pakistan side to be ruled out of the tests in Colombo and Sharjah.
Wasim Akram and Saeed Anwar have opted out of the series while Inzamam-ul Haq has been advised to rest to recover from a foot injury.
Youhana has been carrying the shoulder injury for the last two months.
He was sent back to Pakistan from Nairobi last month on disciplinary grounds, but played in Pakistan’s opening Champions Trophy defeat by Sri Lanka on Thursday.
“Obviously the selectors would now consider a replacement for Youhana before the test series, which is very important to us,” Mujahid said.
with 5 of our most senior players out of the test series against the australians i think the results are very obvious. the series will go to aussies 3-0. lets see wat do we have as our batting line up
all of them have a combined experience of less than 30 test matches. and we expect them to play out the entire 90 overs and score a huge total for the bowlers to defend. nooooooooooooooooo!!!! i dont think so.
azhar mahmood might get a call back from PCB since wasim akram is not playing. a very handy chance for him to prove himself as he did in south africa during his debut.
azhar mahmood - all rounder
abdur razzaq - all rounder
moin khan - wk/batsman
alot will depend on these three, this is where we get some glimpse of experience at test level. if they fail pakistan will be in tatters.
waqar younis
shoaib akhtar
sami
saqlain
mohammad zahid (maybe)
without wasim akram the attack already looks depleted and less penetrative.
we are gonna miss the senior players very badly and it will become obvious after the first test match.
well yeah wasim absence sutracts the variety from our bowling.....
Saeed is going to play as he is keen to play and after youhana's absence selctors will include him....
I cant understand how ppl here are including Bazid khan. He is not even in pakistan A team....
I think following batlting line up will play in first tes match...
Saeed
Imran farhat/Taufeeq Umar
Misbah
Younis
Shahid Afridi/Faisal Iqbal
Abdul Razzaq
Rashid Latif
Bowling line up might be
Waqar
Shoaib
Sami
Danish
Razzaq
Afridi (if he plays)
I think They will play Afridi coz he is considered an all rounder.
And Rashid Latif is going to play in test series..
it has been confirmed by Waqar in an interview.. i cannot find the link right now....
A lot relies on Shoaib .. I mean A LOT coz austiraila scores generally when their opener score and they usually give a double century stand.
eheheh so A lot depends on how fit and accurate shoaib is...
Heis record before that test against Bangladesh was crap-he’s crap. His action is horrid, and more vitally he doesnt rip the ball miles, and wel he just doesnt fit the needs of the team.
Waqar
Sami
Shoaib
Saqlian
Razzaq
Is the attack which gives us the best chance of (a very unlikely) victory. They will have to be at there absolute best to stand a chance.
The batting:
Anwar (is available)
Imran Nazir
Younis Khan
Misbah ul Haq
Faisal Iqbal
Razzaq
Afridi
Waqar
Saqlian
Sami
Shoaib
Australia will rip us apart man. You can have faith and good wishing but, the truth is the truth.
They will even have the Waugh bro’s back.
McGrath and his new style of bowling. A new fit Warney, who supposedly only drinks wine
Hayden, Langer, Gilchrist, Martyn, Ponting, etc.. the list goes on and on.
And if to say one of them got injured, there is always reserve players like Hussey, Katich, Lehmann, Blewett. Also Allan Border is coaching the side for the time being. Very amusing indeed.
Even with Wasim in the side, I’m sorry he’s not a one man team, and I believe it still wouldn’t have worked out for Pakistan.
Simon Katich is not all that, seem him play lots of CC and he's distinctly average. I cant however belittle the rest, perhaps Micheal Hussey, but thats it. The rest are ace. :(
I agree, they are way dominant than us.
Bowling, batting and fielding is almost to perfection.
In test matches they are even more fierce.
Kind of reminds me the Windies of of 87.
Those of you who don't know who is Bazid Khan, he is the son of Majid Khan and one of the top performers in domestic cricket for the past 3 years but still never gets a chance to play even in A team matches. Most people think he isn't being given a chance because of his father's involvement in accusing our players of match fixing in 99 World Cup. I wouldn't be surprsed if thats the reason. Again just like the Aussies Pakistan should have solid openers like Hayden and Langer who have destroyed quality attacks, they have been scoring double century partnerships everyother matches. I think Pakistan needs solid dominant and aggressive batsmans in the test matches. One who takes time to settle in and slaughters the bowlers when gets settled. I strongly suggest Pakistan play Saeed Anwar, without him our lineup will be crushed.
