The forbidden fruit(s)

Re: The forbidden fruit(s)

^ Why can't I access Youtube :( I wish I could insert the Fame theme song right about now - so apt with your claim of immortality.

Re: The forbidden fruit(s)

Reason : Making fun of religion. A post/thread/news that is so obvious a mockery to belief of majority of members here, should be closed at the very start. And poster should be given infraction points so he/she doesnt repeat spreading wrong info around.

Re: The forbidden fruit(s)

I can understand your hurt. Fully agree that religion should not be made fun of. Those who have faith have a reason to be upset about this ill-sourced news. Peace.

Re: The forbidden fruit(s)

Don't tell me I'm going to have to explain why "kafir" is a derogatory term. Why did they kill Taseer and Bhatti, for being man-fairies? You're gonna trivialize a word used to justify targeting Muslims and non-Muslims alike with violent retribution now? I deserve to be slapped upside the head for not seeing this one coming. And no you can't do the honors.

Goading? That's convenient. Look, I appreciate the fact that you enjoy a cult status on GS (what's that like, standing out at the Special Olympics?) but expressing genuine opinions under the guise of trolling is a cop-out and you know it. We're all capable of being dicks, me included, but when we post online it's done with the expectation that we're being taken seriously sometimes. Bottom line you weren't trolling.
Wow. You see the irony of your statement? You have no more an understanding of the common man than you accuse me of having.
And what profound point were you making about Habib picking Islam over Big Macs?
Shirk is one thing I will conduct.
I'll be honest I have no idea what it means to conduct (condemn?) shirk, let alone what shirk has to do with this.
A few posters get it, yet you don't.
When the trigger-happy astaghfirallah brigade are the only ones who get it, it's time to worry. The silent majority thinks your swagger is unbelievable. Or is secretly hoping cabin fever is distorting your real personality, which I imagine is irresistible.
You automatically stereotyped me as someone who must defend the faith
Not really. You did that yourself. When you branded us the enemy 2 pages ago. Jesus' rule of reciprocity my friend, the Bible should be on your bookshelf besides George. Incidentally, I didn't call you a fundo, I called you a Ninjabi with a 'stache - there's a difference. But even if I did, why does it affect you so? After all, Fundo is not a judgmental label, it's a statement of fact. Like Kafir. Or Wh0re.
Ironic since you commented previously that it was wrong for me to do so.
It's not ironic, it's instructive satire.
Then you call me a bundle of contradictions.
Keyword endearing. Ungrateful, are we.
This Westernized Muslim yuppie base is the future of our "democratic parties" and form the core second generation of most MPAs and politicans. They also form the basis for PTI support which everybody has described as Jamaat-i-Islami lite.
Again, how does this negate my original point about random fatwas and an internal crisis that's religious in nature. You come back with 'coconut complexes.' I then reiterate what I mean by internal crisis - and you completely ignore it in a manly act of deflection. You either agree these problems are real and not the fancy of liberal apologists, or you can continue to claim this thinking is the outcome of a "western education" which you happen to be a by-product of. Yes, and the social group you identify with imports everything from their underwear to their vodka; I'm familiar with them and can't stand the insulated parasites.

Oh all right. I'll stop "harping on" about defending the faith against the enemies of Islam, how gays should be bumped off, and how the bane of society are Western-educated, modern liberals. I'll instead get my panties in a twist about Veena Malik's tattoo (why didn't it say "F the ISI?" Am I the only one who thinks this was a squandered opportunity?) like the rest of you wankers. Point taken, I will not indulge you in anything that involves mental exertion from here on out.

ps. Not about to argue with you about where I'm from, lest your carefully compiled generalizations are painfully shattered. Because you already know I just want you to preserve your, what was it, mental sanity. Winky wink.

pps. Keep your 20 points, what am I, in the running to be your doe-eyed groupie? Besides, Larry the Cable Guy is a tad blue-collar for my elitist sensibilities.

Re: The forbidden fruit(s)

Thanks GIDSA, I wasn't aware you hung around the history forum. No wonder you're the picture of calm on this animal farm; you're stoned, of course. Excellent.

Re: The forbidden fruit(s)

Well what do you know, CM, Cinderella concurs with you. You didn't mention your cult following was inspired by Disney.

Nothing like validation from fairies and princesses to bolster a badass reputation.

Re: The forbidden fruit(s)

fatwaa dainay walay molvi ki soch ko salam

Re: The forbidden fruit(s)

Okay since we are gonna do this, at least have your facts straight. Salman taseer was killed because of his stance on the Blasphemy laws, which at its very core is an issue of freedom of expression and abuse of authority which interlinks with discrimination against minorities. It has nothing to do with being Kafir or pagan, because the number one target group for the Blasphemy laws are Christians.

Also since when does call someone a Kafir means there is going to be violent retribution? How do you jump from one word to murder? That is a huge leap even for you.

Now I can’t do the line by line system as I don’t have the patience for it. So we do it by subject matter. Firstly and most importantly Larry the Cable guy is awesome. Insulting him is like insulting the American flag and…plumbers.

And you had no point regarding Fatwas. Rather your post was directed at me and my comments. It was not even on point. The link is as follows: http://www.paklinks.com/gs/all-views/532383-the-forbidden-fruit-s-4.html#post8614041

Please do illustrate where you comment on the Fatwa. Your comment was simply one line stating that the internal crisis is fueled by us. I made the contention it is fueled by those who wish to balance a western life while remaining true to the faith. People do that at various degrees, while your average Muslim in the Muslim world would choose religion over the western value system that the Western Educated Yuppies have to face. The Arab spring and the rise of the Muslim political parties is such an example. Your average poverty line Muslim has no qualms about an internal crisis because they don’t believe there is one. They believe Islam reigns supreme.

To clarify: These are my friends but I do not identify with their value system or their way of life. One does not need to indulge in all aspects of a social network to enjoy themselves.

And thank you for stopping regarding the harping and nagging. It was getting tiresome.

Re: The forbidden fruit(s)

6 pages later, I still cannot fathom the mindset that thinks this thread and it's posters are the enemies of Islam, if there ever was a melodramatic accusation. It boggles my mind. I wish this was a case of crossed wires. If you're claiming this 'internal crisis' of a lack of scholarship in Islamic academia, this climate of fear and censorship is fueled by 'westernized Pakistanis' trying to juggle their personal religion, or that posters on this thread are 'insulting the faith,' you've lost the plot. Furthermore, it's disingenuous to argue Kafir is not provocative, that it doesn't have menacing context, that it's not used to persecute/ostracize minorities and Muslims who don't conform to whatever brand of Islam is en vogue. If you can't say it to someone's face, ("Sup Kafir/Infidel, what's going on homie?") why argue otherwise here. Incidentally the only reason I brought it up is because you seem to think "hurling abuse in the name of faith" is only outrageous when it happens to Islam and Muslims (a non-issue here) or when someone other than you is doing it. How can you not sense your own hypocrisy? It's like I've been typing in Mandarin all this time, and you're just arguing for the sake of it.

As much as I enjoy polemic, the investment yield has dwindled here; time out. Besides, I've heard getting p0wned by an unlikely opponent once in awhile builds character. You'll live. :D

(Thanks for clarifying, but that didn't even cross my mind. Reflexive judgements are your forte).

Re: The forbidden fruit(s)

Again I ask you a simple question. Would it be insulting if someone used the word Pagan to describe someone else? Kafir has a menacing context since when? A word has no context save for the one we give it. Your 7th grade English class on Shakespeare should have taught you that much. Its like the term Paki. In context of the UK its an insult. The context of Dari its a shorted version of pakirie (spelling?) which means to clean.

And i do say it to people. My friends regularly call me a terrorist in writing and in public. I respond by calling them infidels on in one case German.

Of course they are insulting the faith if they take this news seriously. They are also insulting the average human's intellect and the global education system. But eh. As for your comment regarding hypocrisy, you refuse to see what has been plainly stated so you are welcome to believe whatever you wish.

At the end of the day the substantive issues are not there. Your only problems is "Oh how dare CM say this or that". Don't worry you will get used to it. I say a lot of stuff that pushes buttons. You are not the first to get your panties in a bunch over what I said and you certainly won't be the last.

Re: The forbidden fruit(s)

Lol people were mocking the guy who issued the idiotic fatwa (as if he has any authority) not the religion.

Re: The forbidden fruit(s)

This coming from the guy that thinks Islam has a sell by date.

Re: The forbidden fruit(s)

You're right, you got me. Epic troll is epic.

Re: The forbidden fruit(s)

Sarcasm is only befitting as a response when you actually have something substantive to say.
