We have wood floors at the moment but I’m really missing the feel of a thick soft carpet, esp now in the middle of Winter ![]()
Would light cream carpet be a really bad idea with a dog and possibly a baby next year?

Unfortunately, yes ![]()
dog + child + light colored carpet = :nono:
Re: The floor..
So there is no such thing as (very) easy to clean carpet.. which also feels nice to walk on?
The floor..
Aww keep the flooring! I know it gets cold do you have a rug? In the room? That helps! In the summer its nice as the floors cooler and its a bugger in winter but its much easier to clean etc especially if you have a pet.. And a baby! Lol
Re: The floor..
get a plush fluffy towel, cut in two, wrap around feet, walk around.
Re: The floor..
Get a fluffy dark colored rug
Re: The floor..
underfloor heating. expensive short term but cost effective long term - and the wood feels lovely and warm ![]()

^We have underfloor heating.. I miss the soft feel of carpet under my feet tho ![]()
My mum has the most gorgeous thick pile carpet.. When you walk over it you leave footprints lol
The Berber carpet is a bit easy to maintain, doesn’t need to be constantly vacuumed and can look contemporary.

But Berber doesn’t feel thick and fluffy under your feet…and it’s not very dog friendly. If one seem is unraveled or clawed, it ruins the whole breadth ![]()
Re: The floor..
I have a brown carpet and love it. I took out all that beige carpeting when we moved in.
Re: The floor..
Have you considered getting a large rug (which you could always have cleaned if get’s terribly dirty) in a cream colour?
You could also get your light coloured carpet and place a large rug over high traffic areas to keep it from getting too dirty. My parents did something similar. They have a cream/champagne coloured carpet in the lounge but have this over it in the middle (where most of the traffic is):
Re: The floor..
wood floor is easier to clean and healthier. wood floor is definitely a plus for the baby. area rugs can be fine because you can take them out and take them to professional cleaners for cleaning and sanitation.
