What was it and what was the idea behind it? I had an arranged engagement, and we get along really well Alhamdulillah. His birthday is just around the corner, and I want to give him a decent present that he can wear forever … lol. After a lot of thinking, I thought I’d buy him a burberry watch or something and have it engraved. I told 2 of my friends as I wanted their input and both told me no! get him a shirt, tie or something like that and that if I have him a branded watch he will start thinking that I come from a lot of money and he will start expecting expensive gifts. I know he’s not like that, but I guess they made me doubt my own decition. I want to give him something he can have forever and something that I can get engraved, and the watch thing seemed perfect.

i gave him a calvin klein perfume set because he likes perfumes; and the second gift i gave him was an armani jacket (because i like armani and he likes jackets :)

I got my fiance (now wife) a white gold ring from Peoples which was not very expensive but my wife still wears it fondly every day for the past 3 years. What she got me was a Guess watch which to this day is dear to me. Doesnt matter what you give the first gift means a lot if you love the person and vice a versa.
I treasure my guess watch more then the more expensive gifts she has given me after our marriage on anniversaries and birthdays. Dont demean your gift by putting a value on it, Dil sey do and in sha Allah that will be priceless.

Nothing. I never gave her anything before marriage but got her presents after we were married.

i gave my husband(then fiance) a bvlgari cologne...he's used it all up but still has saved and kept the empty bottle as a reminder on his dressing table!:)

The first gift I ever got my fiance was actually a Burberry watch. :) It was also for a birthday. I've known him since uni and noticed he has a thing for watches, so I thought it was rather appropriate. I agree with everyone that people always treasure the first gift regardless of what it is.

The first gift I gave her was when I was young and poor. It was a blue topaz pendant. It was probably the most meaningful gift I gave her because the color of her topaz perfectly matches the color of her deep blue eyes. I was and still am completely ga-ga over her eyes. After 14 years of marriage, lots of success, lots of real and expensive jewellery, that blue topaz is still the thing she wears every day. tear

I bought her a Dolce and Gabbana perfume. I picked it up from the ladies' section, but in my haste I didn't realise that it was actually a men's perfume that someone else had put in the ladies section.
She told me about it 2 years after we were married (she still had the bottle for proof). She hasn't let me forget it since :(
