so how many of you actually threw a 1st birthday party for your child?
I have to admit I am not a big fan of first birthday parties because I strongly believe that the birthday shoudl be fun for the kid and not to worry about the guests or set up or anything.. so thats me personally BUT I have been asked by several people about my plans for my son’s first birthday party coming up in two and half months inshaAllah (eeeek time flies) I dont have any big plans and I feel like people want me to feel guilty about it.. or act like they so want me to throw a party so they can come.. huh!!
I had plans to take himt o disney world for his first birthday but I dont know if we will be able to afford that trip this year so that will have to wait.. other than that I really dont have any plans except taking a day off and celebrating the day together as family!
Well I understand that my kid wont miss anything but I wonder if he will hold it against me when he grows up and sees all these photos videos etc of his friends/cousins first birthday paties.. we love him very much but we do want to keep the birthday as a family only event and keep it special for us… opinions, suggestions, views?
I did. I'd recommend you to get a smash cake even if you're not having a party. We didn't get a smash cake and I still regret it :( It's just way too cute and memorable
I decided the first birthday party could be more of a thank you to all the adults who have filled her first year with such love. She was too young to really enjoy the regular party games and entertainment featured at birthday parties. Her first birthday was kid-friendly (relaxed, filled with games and colorful decor, plenty of space to run and play) but not kid-focused.
But now that she's older, I want her birthdays to be more about what she enjoys. I've already started brainstorming about the next one, which is almost 4 months away :D
my SOs older brother and wife had a birthday party for their kid a few months ago. Such a cutie pie he is.
All his cousins were they as well as other relatives they seemed to have lots of fun with a yummy big cake.
The boy didn't seem to care though :P its truly just for parents satisfaction
^hmm interesting but he really doesnt have any close family here anyway so I dont think we need a thank you party :D I just need to come up with something smart for whoever asks me about my plans for his first birthday other than I dont do parties :D
why don’t you do this How to Make Hand and Footprint Cement Stones | eHow.com
for your first year old
to commemorate him for being a year old and it will always be there to look at.
he’ll be in awe at how tiny his hands were
We did a first BD party for our daughter.I had been daydreaming about it for months...:D
It was more for us than it was for her.It was a get together of friends we had known for all the time living here, and as my husband used to say that it was a appreciative thing on our part to have all those join us for the first BD,who had shared our special moments when she was born.It was made special when her nano and khala came from Pakistan as a surprise.
We did not do a 2nd BD party (did a themed decoration thing and cake cutting at home just for the three of us and tons of pics)and I don't think I will be doing a third one either (which is in 7 months,Inshallah).Just my thoughts.
I did get her a smash cake for her 1st BD (they do make tiny cakes at local grocery store bakeries...check them if you want to) and it was fun (although messy).
I think its a totally personal choice whether to have BD parties for your kids or not.If you do not want to do it,it is your choice and no he will not hold that against you (other people might..!!...:D,but not your son..).There is nothing wrong with not having a fancy shmancy party. And there is nothing wrong when parents have one for themselves to mark their success after surviving 1st year of parenthood...:D
E never got to eat any of the smash cake.Infact she never smashed the cake, just the entire frosting. But she had tons of fun.I don't think they will eat too much of the smash cake anyways to be high on sugar.
Even if you don't do a party, you can decorate the house to celebrate, and surprise him with things you think he'll love throughout the day (whether it's toys or little trips). Have you taken him to a petting zoo?
S.. he has been to the park that has goats in there that he fed.. we are also taking him to couple of agricultural events next month.. there will be the opportunities for petting zoo! have you ever been to big E? but yeah nice idea bout decorating the house just for him.. since I couldnt do it for eid, may be his birthday will be the perfect timing!!
yep big E.. its starting on September 14 and will be on until the 30.. I was thinking of taking cuppycake there on sept 15, saturday.. want to join us? :-)
awww munz.. Ayman is adorable mashaAllah! I am sure he will enjoy it if I did one but I know it wont be about him.. I will worry about every lil thing that needs to go in planning.. I will want it to be perfect.. and I may ignore him in that.. i dont want to do that!
you can come anytime you like.. sachi!!! can you come for housewarming in september? you are invited :p
