Re: The final 16
Taufeeq Umar should be dropped, yes, agreed upon that point. Butt and Farhat alone will do the job (combined with Malik, if Inzamam prefers him in that slot).
Asim Kamal over Bazid Khan seems a pretty logical decision, however, Afridi and Razzaq has been looked as rather an on-going war and with the return of a solid Iqbal in the middle-order, I don't think there is any slot left for Asim in the team. Maybe a few matches here and there (which is what Iqbal has done so far, up until this point), but these two would have to wait for permanent slots in the team post-World Cup.
As far as the wicket-keepers, either Pakistan 'A' team's Zulqarnain Haider or Faislabad's Mohammad Salman should be included as back-ups, just in case, even though Iqbal can manage the gloves. It is always useful to have an extra specialist keeper, on a tour spanning for more than 60 days.
Once again, as long as Razzaq will be a part of the team, there will always be a selection fight between him and Afridi for that one slot.
Nice points Dhobi bhai, I really like M. Salman as a 2nd choice of Wicket-keeper but on whom expense; Asim Kamal? I think its worth it.
As far as how many matches the duo (Iqbal and Kamal) will get, I am not concerned about that, I made them as the back up on the basis of having a temprament and technique, anyone can get out on a 0 or 100 but how they play in england matters most, I know Asim Kamal (if selected) will be a temp-fix but I think he can provide good support (only test matches) pre WC07 and post WC07 if given a proper chance, his age is 29 I think and he can provide a variety in the batting line up.
