Re: The final 10lbs!!
how many ribs can you count when you raise your hands over your head? subtract that from 20. that is your body fat %.
So you are saying I can't have more than 20% body fat. Yay! :D

Re: The final 10lbs!!
You do realize the highly educational and reliable websites you referenced all say that even athletes don't have that little body fat. Hey, to each their own. Good Luck!
I was trying to clear what body fat % is essential in women. I know i admire an unattainable goal and figure, but everyone has their own ideals of beauty.
Re: The final 10lbs!!
Having lost 30lbs before I now want to lose 10lbs to reach my absolute ideal weight. Also a very good friend is getting married soon AND im going on holiday soon!
Inspired by Hareems thread who seems to be doing really well I thought i would also write down here what im eating and what I am doing as a form of excercise. :)
Congrats.
I'm on my final 20 lbs (which also happen to be my first 20 lbs) that I need to get rid of.

Re: The final 10lbs!!
I have about seven pounds to lose. I'm 5'3 and I weight 119lbs. My problem is that I have a pear shape so my waist and upper body are fine but my thighs/hip/legs look huge. I would kill to have long slender legs :( I work out all the time and eat around 1200 calories a day. I don't know what else to do. sighs...
Re: The final 10lbs!!
Just to leg exercises, preferably, with weights.

I have big thighs too but jogging and skipping everyday has made a huge difference, I have lost all the flabs, I still have big thighs but they are much more tighter and stronger now. Also, I have noticed the legs and thighs look more toned now and I can fit into my old trousers easily. I suggest running, jogging, walking, skipping is the way to go.

Thanks for the tips! I have tried jogging and doing other exercise for the lower body but for some reason nothing seems to work :( I walk for at least a few hours everyday cause its summer and I'm trying to get all the outdoor time I possibly can until it gets cold again lol. How long did it take you to see results? If I do something for a few weeks and don't see results I get really frustrated and give up. My diets never seem to work on my lower body, at one point I was down to 800 calories a day and my lower body stayed the same but my face and torso just got really gaunt so I gave that up. I feel so desperate sometimes.
Re: The final 10lbs!!
so have you lost them?
Re: The final 10lbs!!
sindhichokri

The disposition of excess fat is usually stored in the belly for most people, but due to genetics, for some it is stored in the thighs & hips (in women, it is more likely to be stored below the waist). You also need to ask yourself whether the exercises (i.e. walking) that you are doing are intense enough. By the descriptions you've given, it seems as if you workout your upper body more than your legs (even if its by running or walking). Diet aside, the fuel for your movements (glucose in the blood) is replenished by glycogen in the liver & muscles. The glycogen is in turn replenished by the breakdown of fat. If you aren't losing leg fat, then you are losing fat above the waist. So, what you need to do is to find exercises (aerobic or anaerobic / with or without weights) that target the legs but avoid the rest of the body. Running and rope-skipping is not recommended. Instead, the best aerobic solution is cycling (where the upper body is relatively at rest and legs do all the work). Compliment this by some resistance-exercises (with weights). Pushing weights with your legs will expend glycogen directly from the legs, instead of the upper body, and will burn fat directly from the legs. I'd recommend prioritizing resistance-exercises above cycling for the quickest results. Go to the gym and use the equipment that target isolated muscle groups. Each equipment will target only a single specific muscle at a time, instead of multiple muscles of the body. This can help you in avoiding other muscles of the body (i.e. abs), so that all of the fat metabolism can be restricted to the legs.
Re: The final 10lbs!!
Even with cycling if it's not intense enough you won't get any results.
Re: The final 10lbs!!
I thought it wasnt possible to spot reduce :S
Re: The final 10lbs!!
It's possible.
