A friend of mine once narrated this incident to me. I dont know about its historical authenticity or any reference. But since it was about the respect of a common man towards a pious person, I thought it worthwhile to share it with you.
Once in BUSTAM, there came a long dry period without any rain. The inhabitants of Bustam prayed a lot for the rain. Many a times Salat-ul-Is’tasqa (prayers for rain) was also offered but of no avail. Then some Ulema suggested that next Salat-ul-Is’tasqa be offered behind a Wali and not an Aalim. So a group of Bustami notables went to Hazrat Ba-Yazid Bustami (AR) and requested him to lead the next Salat-ul-Is’tasqa, to which he graciously agreed. A nearby open ground was selected to accomodate the expected large gathering of people. Before the designated time, a lot of people started gathering in the ground. In the way, was the house of a man, who after seeing groups of people going to the ground, asked about the whole issue. When he was told about the story, he got annoyed and said, “Why are you people bothering Hazrat Ba-Yazid Bustami (AR) for such a petty task which can be done even by me”. Some people started laughing while others ignored him. After that he went inside his house, performed Wadhoo and then went to the specified ground. On reaching the ground he again reiterated his point and suggested to lead the Salat-ul-Is’tasqa himself. Only a few persons agreed while the majority preffered to wait for Hazart Ba-Yazid Bustami (AR). That adamant man started to lead the prayers. Afterwards he started crying and vowing passionately. On seeing this, people gathered around him and started to listen to his vows. He was vowing, crying and pleading before Allah Almighty like this; “Oh my Great Allah, I beg You to please listen to my vows, I beg You to please see my weeping eyes, my crying eyes, my sinner eyes, these are THE EYES THAT HAVE SEEN YOUR WALI HAZRAT BA-YAZID BUSTAMI (AR) ONLY ONCE, and I beg of You, through these eyes to please send the rain to Bustam”. And soon people witnessed a heavy down pour of rain even before Hazart Ba-Yazid Bustami (AR) could reach the ground.
After listening to this incident I have asked myself a question many a times. If that was the value before Allah of the eys who had seen his Wali Hazrat Ba-Yazid Bustami (AR) only once, what would be the value of those EYES WHO HAD SEEN OUR HOLY PROPHET (SAW) in the state of Iman.
Please share your views and enlighten this illeterate.
Subhannallah...thats why we time and again said on GS..me...and many my respectable friends..that the status of sahbi is so high that we cannot even think of it......
and all ulema unanimously agreed that if all great aulia of 1400 years combine...they are not equal to even the lowest sahabi of prophet(pbuh) .....
and tahts why we said that ..plz..dont disrespect any sahabi....and specially Shaikeen...etc...remebering what is happening in Iraq !!!!!!!
two things wrong in this narration....
1) the Prophet (Saw) has clearly stated that an alim is much higher in rank than an aabid....
2) how can u say that bayazid bastami (ra) was not an aalim????
1.A wali cannot ever become a wali if he is not aalim...first "shriat"...then "Tareeqat" ...and then wali becomes so much fond of "nafal" ibadat...that ...allah become his hands..eyes.....ears......and wali listen...hear from them as in hadees...
This is
[declared in a Hadith-e-Quddsi, where Allah says to the Most Beloved ]Prophet (Salla Allahu ta’ala Alayhi wa Sallam), “Among the things
that bring My servant close to Me, the ones I love best, are the things
that I have made fard (compulsory). When My servant does nafil ibaadat (optional prayer), he gets very close to Me. So much so, that
I love him very much. When I love Him, I become his hearing ear,
seeing eye, holding hand, and walking foot. I give him whatever he
wishes. When he invokes Me for help, I protect him.” ]http://209.85.129.104/search?q=cache:Bu1WBlg9qp4J:www.islam786.org/awliyaallah.htm+&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=25&gl=pk
In Bukhari Shareef, Hadrat Abu Huraira (Radi Allahu ta'ala Anhu) reports
the following Hadith-e-Quddsi:
The Most Beloved Prophet (Salla Allahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam) has said
that Allah said, “Whoever shows enmity to a friend of mine, I shall be at war
with him.”
nice info dawa-e-dil... and after reading the above posted info,
these questions raised in my head hope u or anyone else can provide me witht the answers or information...
1) Like u said and i completely agree that even 100,000 walis together cannot take a position of Sahabi! then why it is in most cases we dont see the graves of Sahabi as decorated as of Wali. why is their urs every year on grave of wali and not on Sahabi.
2) just want to know how to be Friends (WALI) with Allah-Subhan.o.tala?
*urs..were never ordered by walis themselves...these are the followers who initiated that.....
*doing all farz ibadat ...then doing nafal ibabdat so much so that....above hadees criteria reached.....
some walis used to pray fajr prayer with Isha prayer wadhu..means whole night not sleeping....
Dear Brother,
1) u are rite to some extent that urs is not ordered by walis (as per my info it is not disliked by them either)... but who trained the followers... Like The Prophet (PBUH) trained and taught his direct followers (SAHABI) and then Sahabi conveyed the same to others... none of them did the URS of Sahabi, the reason to my understanding is that the Trainer them in a way that their old habits of PERSONALITY_WORSHIPING were washed out.
(correct me if iam wrong in my conclusion)
*. Yes...those who do personality worship are "jahils"
*asking help from them instead of allah ....
*attribute some divive qualities to them...
*do rakooh and sajood on shrines and mazars
*and mostly now-a-days...the "Mujawar" of qabar and shrine eat haram from "Nazranai"..sadqa..khairat...this is totally haram....
but aulia never ordered this ...these are Jahil people who all do that....
majority of muslims..
*respect them...
we are muslims because our fore-fatheres became muslims by them...
*we love them as they spread islam ..in this Indo_pak region of hinduism
*we ask only from Allah...not any Wali...though Shah wali Ullah writes..after the death of few aulia...thier rooh..are used for Takveeni-Umoors.....its upon Allah...to give a person a specific thing...either by his ownself...through some other person..through some wali....but ultimately...Allah...will...that superseeds anything..and only Allah...gives...no-body else...
Majority..if visit mazar..neither ..do rakooh and sajood...just in a sunnah way...recite fateha in a proper way...and ask Allah from anything...its upon now allah to give us...through any mean.....
Just ..previously..in some thread ...i gave the example of sick person...that if i become ill...and go to doctor...and after the medicatie he give..i becomes perfectly right...its not mean that medicine gi\ve me health...neither its menas that doctor give me health...its Allah...who give me health...but doctor and medines were *means *...which come into my good health recovery....
Similarly...everything...from health...to children...from money to success is given by Allah...however sometimes he directly give...sometimes somebody helps us..like friend...who give us money in difficult times...some times its doctor which help us...sometimes...very pious people are given help by Khizar(as) etc..sometimes the rooh of aulia helped him in difficult times.....but ULTIMATELY...not a leaf is broken from the tree without Allah will...just maens are different....
As Ali and !2 imams never ordered that bring us to God Level...to shias
As ..Uzair and Mossa never said that bring us to God-Son level to jews...
As..Essa never said that bring me to God-Son level to Christians....
similarly...similarly....
aulia and wali ullah never said that ..worship us...urs on us..dhammal ...band baji...non-shariah like things..women visiting graves..a it is strictly forbidden...and ask help from them...These are Jahil who do all that....
