Sri Krishna bent the rules a bit during Mahabharatha to assist good over not so good ( per his opinion). Of course, times had Changed. A few thousand years earlier, Sri Rama played by the book.

yea like. if you are screwing around but eventually marry. it washes off your earlier sins n stuff.
