the emptiness of your heart

stumbled across a quote by Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyyah and found it real deep in meaning, so i thought i might share it with you guys. Hope it makes as much a sense to you as it did to me.

“Truly in the heart there is a void that cannot be removed except with the company of Allah (SWT). And in it there is sadness that cannot be removed except with the happiness of knowing Allah (SWT) and being true to Him. And in it there is an emptiness that cannot be filled except with love for Him and by turning to Him and always remembering Him. And if a person were given all of the world and what is in it, it would not fill this emptiness”.
-ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyyah

It absolutely, totally, utterly, wholly makes sense.

...without doubt in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find satisfaction {13.28}

"And remember your Lord within yourself humbly and fearing and in a voice not loud in the morning and the evening and be not of the heedless ones."

"Those who believe and whose hearts are set at rest by the remembrance of Allah; now surely by Allah's remembrance are the hearts set at rest."

"Surely I am Allah, there is no god but one, therefore serve Me and keep up prayer for My remembrance."

"And certainly the remembrance of Allah is the greatest, and Allah knows what you do."

"And the men who remember Allah much and the women who remember-- Allah has prepared for them forgiveness and a mighty reward."

"O you who believe! remember Allah, remembering frequently, And glorify Him morning and evening."

"And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with (exclusive) devotion."

"And your Lord do magnify."

"And glorify the name of your Lord morning and evening. And during part of the night adore Him, and give glory to Him (a) long (part of the) night."

"So when you are free, nominate. And make your Lord your exclusive object."

"Then celebrate the praise of your Lord, and ask His forgiveness; surely He is oft-returning (to mercy)."

Hadith

Narrated 'Abu Musa (Radi Allah Anhu) : The Prophet Muhammad (sal-allahu-alleihi-wasallam) said, "The example of the one who remembers (glorifies the Praises of his Lord) Allah in comparison to the one who does not remember (glorifies the Praises of his Lord) Allah, is that of a Living creature to a Dead one."

:jazak: for sharing Omair…Qayyim Al-Jawziyyah and Imam Ibn Taymiyyah are my favourite scholars…

Ibn Taymiyyah was actually called ‘Tabeeb-ul-Qulub’ or doctor of the heart for his wisdom and knowledge soothed many a sad and ailing heart…

You can read some more of their writings here…
