Yes, it had to take a thousand megawatt shock for the limp body to respond. But respond it has, perhaps fighting for its last breaths. And the rulers — PML-N and their allies and the rest who infest Parliament — are suddenly talking about issues that everyone except them had been talking about for years and years. It had to take a shock for these zombies to lift their chins, look around, and see a tidal wave of discontent, frustration, anger and loathing roaring towards them.
Now that parliament is secured and held supreme, let's see people come out their 'peasant' and 'subject' mentality to stop treating these Parliamentarian as their Kings and Lords and questions the parliament for not delivering. They are in the parliament to deliver and I wouldn't be surprised if many people still don't believe that this isn't the case! Therefore, supporters of all these parties first need to actually understand that what the purpose of the parliament is. The purpose of parliament is not that people like Moulana Fazlu, Atakzai, PPP leaders and Nawaz league to give long speeches how this is their 'house' and they are entitled to the VIP culture, and they were born to hold these positions. The purpose of the parliament is to make laws that serves people, eliminates pressing problems and present short to long term solutions.
We have floods, let's see if the parliament presents any debate or policy (forget about passing a legislation) on water management, and let's see if people actually questions and condemned the parliament and the politicians sitting in it, for not delivering. If you are really going to shed crocodile tears for this system, start off by questioning those who have limitlessly abused the system from within and still act like its caretakers. Otherwise, don't cry blasphemy when ordinary man question that why this system and parliamentarians, aren't delivering. Just because they are 'elected by the people' doesn't make then above the people.
Enough of this BS attitude that democracy and supremacy of parliament means holding periodic rigged election every five years, what happens in these five years is a non issue. Stop legitimising bad administration, criminal negligence, abuse of power in the name of 'protecting the system'.
If you are going to throw your weight behind the likes of Fazlu and Nawaz Sharif, and support the parliament that's run by crooks and criminals that start off all their speeches by counting decades for how many years they held so and so ministry. Then prove it to the people that your new found heroes are capable of delivering and they will deliver. Instead of launching mindless character assassination, political mudslinging and criticism for sake of criticism for politicians who you do not consider part of the fair play, reserve all your questions for the parliament! Question your parliamentarians. Vent your frustration at them. Justify why they aren't passing any legislation to improve the lives of people (that's only for those who don't like to see Parliamentarians as their Kings and Lords).
If you think parliament is useless and parliamentarians won't deliver, then stop acting like hordes of lickspittles, fawning upon these politicians. Nor impose your cowardly passivity and insensitivities to those who want to question this system, and want it to improve and deliver.
But let's see if this parliaments delivers on water management policy or we'll need another dharna on this after decades of devastating annual flooding.
