The concept is not new. Even in the movie 2012, they showed that only rich and powerful and intellects were rescued to be survived.
You think that a time could come where we have to escape this planet, and it would all come back to how rich and powerful you are. Poor and old would be left behind to die. Though my faith in humanity is not really up there, but I refuse to believe that we will ever see that behavior in such situation.

So this reminds me something:
Similar discussion was at lunch table with different nationalities people.
But the discussion was in opposite way:
When the world population is in trouble, only fools will survive since intelligent people will just destroy themselves with their aggressive and power hungry nature…something like that.
One gentleman from neighboring ‘friendly’ country of Pakistan said:

The gentleman smiled and left the table in couple of minutes quietly.

Moon is a useless piece of rock that has been visited by us already, forty five years ago. What value do you see in returning to the moon just for the heck of it?

Now in pakistan, leaders make whole country hell, and then make their 100 kanal house with big walls, in side they put tree and few birds. with 100 guards out side. Now if those morons do destroy pakisn on daily basis, they could just have
trees, birds every where in the country, and they too could walk freely among other people.
