The element of adventure

When I was a kid we used to play with other kids but there was also the element of adventure in whatever we did, like making tree houses, pretending there was an unknown creature behind our house and inviting other youngsters to come round and track this creature down etc etc

These days kids are just zombies with no element of imagination in their play whatsoever.. They play computer games as opposed to imaginative play.

Do you guys feel the same?

Re: The element of adventure

definitely. we used to play hopskotch, dog n the bone, hide and seek - tv only in the evenings for like an hour.

Re: The element of adventure

also i feel cartoon shows these days are losing the "fantastical" or creative element and increasingly becoming realistic. I think that the imaginativity (being able to fly on a magic carpet for example) promoted creativity and innovative thought in kids.

Re: The element of adventure

I hate video games i promise i will never let my kids play with them. I will stick with puzzles and other things...

no guns those games are filled with violence. One character hits another and from there on he keepson winning.

I love mario game - yeah i know its old as gold - even simba was good

Re: The element of adventure

It’s just a generational gap. Our elders thought we were no good zombies too.

Re: The element of adventure

Yea. These days, you’ve got kids like me that moderate forum Cafes. :disgust: It’s a sick world.

Re: The element of adventure

umm.. i feel SIMILAR, but not the same ..

there are video games like "room of red walls" that had bunch of us going and ONLY way u could exit that game was by imagination and thinking .. it wasnt a puzzle, but just involved thinking ..

apart from violence, quake for example, involved PLANNING, keeping discipline in terms of health versus your ammo, and creativity between hiding/attacking ..

yes health wise NOTHING is a replacement of chor-sipahi or kho-kho, but there ARE indoor (zero physical) distractions available..
