Not really. Its prevalent in the mideast as well. As a matter of fact, its far more pronounced here. Arab kids go from door to door like in halloween, asking for eidee. They will swarm your car at the gas station…they will pester you on your way to the store. They work in packs, and you have to be sure to give everyone some money, otherwise you get dirty looks.
Funniest is when they knock door to door, and the residents of the house are non-muslims!
