Whats with the Eidi trend? When it started from? What is its origin?? We have always been enjoying giving and taking eidis since ages but I really dont know when was it started??
Is it just a cultural based thing or we can find some religious evidences too?? Would anyone explain??

I think eidi in cash is probably a sub-continent thing and similar traditions are followed in Hindus as well.

Not really. Its prevalent in the mideast as well. As a matter of fact, its far more pronounced here. Arab kids go from door to door like in halloween, asking for eidee. They will swarm your car at the gas station....they will pester you on your way to the store. They work in packs, and you have to be sure to give everyone some money, otherwise you get dirty looks.
Funniest is when they knock door to door, and the residents of the house are non-muslims!

so what… they knock our door in halloween too and we make sure to give them some candies and dont return them disappointed

eidi na bhi di jaye to koi masla nahn lakin leni zaroor chahiye aur lar kar ziada paise nikalwaane ka bhi apna hi maza hai..:D

Main to kai salon se apni jaib khali kar raha hoon.. hamare haan kamane wale ladkon ko eidi dene ka rivaaj nahi

lols. mere ek dost ki ammi ne mujhe 4-5 saal pehle 500 rupe Eidi aur kapRe die the… nahin to her Eid per budget out hota hai
