It's the same situation in Pakistan. I think PCG is talking about American born and raised Pakistani males in general. NikSik and few posters mentioned some really highly educated Pakistanis but mostly they migrated to USA for education or for employment. Of course American born males are also getting higher education, and their ratio would be much higher than migrant graduates to non-graduates ratio in Pakistan, if all migrants move back to Pakistan.
On a separate note, I often see people comparing migrant graduates/professionals with USA & UK born Pakistanis. I think it is an unfair comparison. These Pakistanis come out from a pool of millions of students/professionals in Pakistan and in most cases they are the best brains country has to offer. So comparing an average Joe with them is unfair to both Joe and these Pakistanis.
You know what considering so many single women on GS have this problem. We should have a bachelor auction....buy you the Life 1 male guppie for a day....a week...for life if you are really that crazy :D
PCG...... come to the Virginia/DC Area.... all professionals. People are very ambitious here (although its a bit expensive here compared to FL).
P.S. I lived in FL for 3 years, hated it.... all Pakistani people we met there were either gas station owners, taxi drivers or grocery store/7-11 owners.... no importance given to education there.
It’s **not**a Pakistani thing. It’s the general phenomenon. And while all you have very educated circle of friends and family, it doesn’t mean all the hunky dory.
For years, well educated guys have married less educated girls (and it had worked ok for quite long). I have seen 1000s of cases with guy having Masters+ proff degree and girl is a mere BA or not even that.
Why is that if a girl gets higher degree he think that marrying a less educated nice, well settled guy is a non-starter?
pgc i agree the guys are not as educated as the gals a lot of times, and that's becoming for the girls cuz they are more educated then guys thus having to go to pak to find equally educated guys i guess

Decent, I get what you're saying.
Where I am, the general population is not educated beyond community college and does not BELIEVE in education.
That makes it hard for a female grad student to connect with people. Most folks I know would criticize me - what is the point of going to college? Why have a career?
I want my kids to go to college and contribute to societyhowever they want. Dude who. Messes with gori girls in high school, did 2 yes of community college and now runs his dad's subway is not the best option!
I'm not asking for much. Just take some interest in developing yourself otherwise I don't want you to come near my kids with old fashioned ideas of .... So what are you going to do with a college degree?
not in my friends circle atleast, well ppl in the recent past were not doing well because of the economic times who had degrees etc. however i might add i have 2 other friends who are college dropouts as well and one is working for RIM (Blackberry) and one is working for HP.
But i have to say education is an important part and mind u not only from a jobs point of view, it is important for other part in life as well, cuz u cannot generalise. But i have to say some guys i came across were content with what they had going for them and had no ambition and there is a high majority of them who just are happy to make ends meet, but that has nothing to do with education :k:
PcG I have to try to get my hubs to stop educating himself. He is forever reading, researching, experimenting yadayada, in his "man cave" (office) and we NEvEr see him. Unless he has to pee because theres no potty in his office. I have never met anyone more hardworking than he is. Yet, you cant be any other way if you want to live decently in new york.
