Lately there has been so much talk about the economic revival in Pakistan, people have been writing left and right about the progress. The economic policies, privatization and call centers, but the fact of the matter is that the ground reality is still very bleak for many Pakistanis. This article appeared in the Daily Jang few days back, it shows the ground reality the real face of economic prosperity. I wish I can translate it for those who can not read urdu, its too long. Yeah, it will take time. I think the key to ecomic revival for the benefit of all is devolution. But not this crap we are witness to today bt the real kind.
We need to devolve power to the provinces, and empower people of the provinces. The Fedral govt should be a regulatory body but thats it. They should allocate funds and allow the Provices to use them, and be there to oversee things and make sure things function smoothly.
