the economist article: Pakistan the world's most dangerous place

such nerve … to justify that infesting a country is legitimate.

they should have completed the caption lead as

Pakistan the world’s most dangerous place ‘for the despicable looters’

Re: the economist article: Pakistan the world's most dangerous place

did u read the article? I think it was pretty well written. It clearly identifies the problem in Pakistan i.e. military dictatorships

Re: the economist article: Pakistan the world's most dangerous place

I'v been saying this for years...ne ones ever believed me!

Re: the economist article: Pakistan the world's most dangerous place

spock & ms. mohabbat,
thanks for your posts.
i did read that article before sharing its link here.
to the extent that military rule is an issue for governance of a country, the issue can be obvious without the need for this article to pin point a misdirected justification as to why a country must be viewed as if it is not able to survive.
this article is no diagnostic for Pakistan's sovereignty, is it?
what it is doing though, is to set up lobby for anti-Pakistan sentiment based on augmented indictment of military personnel who are in power.

bush was in military too. he is no saint, is he? he has ruled during his term.
his elections were a fraud. and his service to his country is anything but great and fair.

look at the words that are used to mock at the risks for the 19 yrs old son of late Benazir.
is it not clear as to why do the international powers that be, have so dear stake in disintegration of Pakistan?

best,
Dushwari

Re: the economist article: Pakistan the world’s most dangerous place

The claims in the articles were exaggerated. I read it today. Nothing new. lol
The writer was indian btw

Re: the economist article: Pakistan the world's most dangerous place

BUSH was in the milatery? ahhh i think for 2-3 years and he never saw active duty...was typing or something in the south.

Re: the economist article: Pakistan the world's most dangerous place

He flew for national guard, not sure if he flew in combat.

The article is not new and seem like a cut and paste from previous years.

Re: the economist article: Pakistan the world's most dangerous place

Dushwari, Journalists in west are a lot harsher on their own government. Not a day passes by when there isnt an article in which Bush is called a moron, a dimwit a pompous dumb ask etc. So if they mock the decision to crown a 19 year old then at the end of the day, the criticism is a valid one. Dont you think it is hypocritical for a party to be run like a monarchy... yet ask over democracy? What qualifications does this young lad possess other than his last name is Zardari. Oh wait they added Bhutto to shamelessly cash in on the awful situation.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out the parallels between current situation and that of 71. Dont let your hatred for everything west blind you. The article points a way out of this cluster mess via democracy. Frankly it lacks substance on what happens after democracy. But, regardless - I for one agree. Military elite have raped this country for too long. It is time for a change.

Re: the economist article: Pakistan the world’s most dangerous place

Here is another related article pointing to the deepening divide in the country. It too offers only one solution.

But, I am shocked that sindhies actually beleive that Benazir was killed by punjabies for being a sindhi. Such rampant jahalat… how can we blame west for that?
