The downtrodden Muslim Ummah...

Many times an argument has been raised that the Muslims are in a quandary nowadays and that whatever has been happening around the world to the Muslims is due to their religion…

That is false. First of all we have to keep in mind that whatever is happening to the Muslim Ummah nowadays is not new. It was prophesied by the Holy Prophet :saw: and ordained by Allah :swt:…

This Hadith proves that Muslims will indeed be persecuted and harassed
throughout the world. And it is truly a time that it is indeed happening. In Palestine, in Kashmir, in Chechnya, in Afghanistan, in Iraq, in Bosnia and many other places as well…Persecution doesn’t necessarily have to take the form of physical punishment. It can come as mental and social sanctions as well. Non-Muslims and some Muslims too have been led to believe that all of this has taken the Ummah by surprise. It has not. The above mentioned prohecy is only one of many that the Holy Prophet :saw: prophesied. The making of Israel, the taking over of Syria (Iraq), the Hijaaz being encircled by the hypocrites and kafir forces. You can well see from a Muslim’s point of view how many have come true.

Another misconception that people have about the Ummah is that it has now fallen from grace. Agreed. Why? Because we have left the path of Allah :swt:. What is the path of Allah :swt:? It is enjoining good and forbidding evil. We have stopped doing that.
The Holy Prophet :saw: said:

And we do indeed see it happening today.

One more thing which truly tests the Eeman of a Muslim and kafir alike is the issue of success. Just what is success? Philosophers call success a relative entity, businessmen call it being rich, a politician will call it being voted and so on…What does Islam say about success? Islam places great importance on happiness. Both in this world and the hereafter. (There is more importance in the hereafter as every Muslim’s belief is that this world is nothing more than an examination hall or a hotel). So the opponents of Islam come up with the time honored tradition of asking, “who’s the boss?”…The Ummah is not the first to be asked this this question. This same question has been thrown at every messenger that came with the word of truth, the Jews, the Christians and now the Muslims. Who’s the boss?

When the Jews were enslaved by the Egyptians and labored, the Egyptians would ask the same thing, where’s your god now? When Ibrahim :as: was being thrown into the fire his people asked the same question. The Romans asked the same question to Christians and so on until it comes to us. The Ummah. The world asks us, “where’s your Allah now? We are succesful, we control everything, we can subdue you and make you do as we please.” Now at this point we take a brief lesson in history. According to the Torah, the Bible and the Quran, we see different peoples, races and tribes come to a horrible end. At what point? At the pinnacle of their achievements! Every race from Aad, people of Lut :as:, the Egyptians, Nimrod…All met their fates when they thought that they had grown the most powerful force on the face of the Earth. So we see here a pattern emerging. Why were these people annihilated at the zenith of their time? Allah :swt: does not take kindly to pride! The only reason Allah :swt: gives leash and bestows favors upon a nation, is to let it and its peoples prosper and think that there is no force mightier than them. It is only after this that Allah :swt: unleashes his fury upon a people andmakes them realize that yes, there is one mightier than them.

What about the Ummah then? The Ummah after 1500 years of bringing light to the world and expanding its blessings upon the earth, became lethargic. And that too not long ago. Just 50 or sixty years ago. During this time we have seen a lot of hardships and brutality inflicted upon it. And as the prophecies of the Holy Prophet :saw: go, people from the Ummah will keep rising and fighting to bring it back to its glory. At first it will be a trickle, then InshAllah soon, it will become a deluge. And from the midst of these rising and falling stars will rise the Imam Mahdi…It has been prophecied, and Allah :swt: will bring it all to light soon…Allah :swt: will not keep a single soul in the dark whether it be a Muslim or a kafir…The truth will manifest itself…Allah :swt: will give the Muslims exactly what they desire InshAllah…

May Allah :swt: guide this Ummah as he sees best and bring about the light of His glorious deen into our hearts…Ameen…
