the direction of Kaaba

What should a person do when he/she doesn’t know the exact direction of Kabaa. Can we just pray in any direction?

But First he should have to try to find the direction.

Make a good faith effort to figure out the direction first. In day time, depending on where you are, you can make a reasonable judgement based on sun's position. If you are totally clueless (night time etc), then offer salah at the direction that makes most sense. Insha Allah, you will get rewarded.

:bism:

"…If there was someone among them who was completely ignorant about the direction, he should follow the one who is more aware amongst them of the direction of the qiblah. For the one who was uninformed about the direction of the qiblah, must ask someone if he can, or else he should make ijtihad (make a judgment based on the best of his ability with the information available) if he is able to, otherwise he must follow someone who is reliable.** If he cannot find one, then he should do his best in obedience to Allah and complete his prayer, and his prayer is correct.** This sometimes happens to a number of those who travel to the lands of disbelievers and find no Muslim around them to inform them of the correct direction of qiblah.

If one was capable of finding out the direction of the qiblah, but was neglectful and prayed without making all possible efforts, he should repeat his prayer because he was careless."

Islam Q&A
Sheikh Muhammed Salih Al-Munajjid (www.islam-qa.com)

u should get a compass, normally some janamaaz'es {prayer mat's} have the compass sewn on them, for england it's 60 degrees angle not sure about other countries.

2condly, ksa is the most central country of the world, so when 1 is unsure of the direction of khana kaaba then u can pray in any direction as all directions u place ur janamaaz @ will point towards kaaba shareef

In which direction would you pray, when you are on moon or any other planet. Islam is for the whole universe.

^^ inuit no idea about praying on moon but i'll tell u something, neil armstrong the first amreekan to step on the moon went to turkey for a visit, he was walking through the bazaar with some 1 when suddenly he heard a moazzin say the azaan and he stopped. the guy with him said y did u stop, he said that azaan i just heard, i heard that when i was on the moon, subhanallah

^ LUC, no offence mate, but do you really believe everything you read?

Apart from a rough judgement during the day based on the suns position, you can judge on a clear night as well, where you can determine north by locating the north star, courtesy of the milky way. Once you know where north is, you can find out the other 3 directions as well, and hence, get a rough idea of where qibla would be.

What is Kaba Qousaan (Kousaan)?
and what is the difference between kaba and kibla?

Do you realy believe they have been to moon?????? And by the way voice requires some kind medium AND there is no air on the moon.
You better check out those photos NASA put out to public to make them believe that moon had been conquered. You will have to pay attention to the shadows and look closly at the US flag, It is waving...... NO air remember....

thankyou guys. Thanks a lot :)

Faisal " a good faith effort' I understand...if only I can do that. I am drifting away frm God...khair, I 'll be back :)

OR,,, worry about providing for one's family and forget about praying. I am sure God doesn't need your prayers. I is about how you treat other people NOT how much you pray.

lol lol ,,,,Don't get upset. you DO know what I mean, don't you mate??

what if you can do both? They are not mutually exclusive. I think of prayer as meditation as opposed to prostration. I think both are important.
