The two things that I thought will never happen are happening…
My baby developed a diaper rash..i change his diaper religiously, pat dry him vefore putting on the new diaper n apply destine after every poopy diaper diaper change(almost all of them) but I just changed his diaper n to my horror he had a rash…where did I go wrong?I plan to leave him diaper free during the day today but what else can I do?
The apt stinks…since we have started using formula, his poop stinks and almost all his diapers are poopy..I always empty the basket everyday but still this morning when I went to the bathroom to dispose off his diaper, I felt like the whole apt smelled like poop..I took the last nites diapers bag out right away, but still it’s there.can’t open windows due to winter…what’s the solution? I hate hate hate stinky house, be it desi food or poppy diapers now I have it in my house.
do you wash him after every diaper change? that helps immensely. i use penaten for the kid and have not had a rash yet- maybe its time to change the rash cream?
as well, get a diaper genie!! ours has been on formula since week 3 and the house has never smelled, not even once. if you don't want to get one, do you wrap up the diaper tightly before disposing of it? make a little bundle and tie it up with the velcro straps. that might help to contain the smell. but honestly, when that diaper genie or not discussion was going on here, i didn't understand how people didn't like it. that thing is a lifesaver- its convenient, you empty it every few days when its full, and it contains the smell entirely. its not even that expensive- the refills are always going on sale at walmart or babies r' us. i buy 8 at a time and they last me for a long time.
Do you have a diaper genie? I think go ahead and get one if it's causing problems. And keep febreeze and such around. :D
As for the rash, I'm not sure. Mine didn't start developing a rash until she started solids, cuz of the new foods. Do you think it could be cuz of the new start in formula?
OR actually, maybe it's the frequency of the changes. But of course if he's pooping frequently, you have to change him. Do you use wipes? If so, stop and just use warm water. As for the rash cream, if it seems effective, go ahead and keep it. Otherwise you can try Aquaphor which is very gentle. We also used Boudreax's Butt paste.
Wash him after he poops and pees .... and personally, I think diaper genie is a waste - but that depends a lot on the layout of your house. For us, it was a lot easier to put his dirty diapers into the trash outside the house immediately after changing him.
yup dont wipe ur baby i simply use jhionson baby jelly n allhumdullah she never had rashes n keep a separate washroom for ur baby n fold the diaper tightly before disposing off n keep some air freshner in washroom i have separate washroom for my abbay where there is nappy cahnge n bathing only 4 her no one else use that :)
Excessive poop can lead to diaper rash, even with washing. The skin is very sensitive at that age. Just to be safe, take him to a doctor. He may need a medicated cream.
GTG, i used to and still buy those small baby diaper bags and place each diaper as we change in those bags and tie it and then it goes in the trash. That really helps in containing the smell of the diapers. And i do it for all diapers, pee or poo.
wash ur baby, dry him well and also tie his diaper lose a bit. Does his diaper fit him, Jr. Would have red marks on the sides if diaper was not his size which can sometimes cause rashes. Pls look into that as well. Try using coconut oil, it works wonders.
I was him 3-4 times in 24 hours because i don't want to put him under water every 2 hours..however,I soak the wipes in warm water for every diaper change. I m so diligent with his diaper changes so it's kind of shocking n annoying that he got the rash..husband got A&D so I will try that for next change..hopefully it will work!
Automne.. He has been wearing size1 since his birth n is still less than 10 pounds so I don't think he is outgrowing his diaper yet..will look in the fit though!
We got the bags fir diapers and also thrash can outside the appt..it's a hassle to dispose off diaper after every change but you gotta do what you gotta do so we will have to do so..sgc..yep, I used to wrapt it up tightly but still this morning the stench was horrible..I had to febreeze the house at 4 in the morning!
So we have figured the cause of his rash..it's caused by yeast infection..I m taking antibiotics for mastitis and we both have developed thrush.. Hence the yeasty diaper rash!
I knew it was more than not changing him because that I keep on eye on him like a hawk!

oh yes this is very common in babies when u start formula my nephew had the same v used daktarn jel in his mouth n for rashes v used canestan n trust me canestan was so good tht withing 24 hrs all rashes vanished :) try giving her water also it will help preventing infection :)
I'm really surprised that no one here told you not to put rash cream after each poopy diaper. That's not the purpose of rash cream so don't do it. Rash creams can irritate baby's skin very badly and cause rashes too so be careful!
Try using unscented wipes. Sometimes the fragrance can irritate the skin.
Regarding the smell, I've always wrapped the soiled diaper in a plastic bag and thrown it in the outside trash. When we were in an apartment, we had a small trash can for this purpose on our deck/patio. I'd throw that our every few days and spray with Lysol before putting in a fresh liner. We had diaper genie for a bit when the poops were more and it would be inconvenient go step out in the cold at 2am, but somehow the outside trash worked better when the frequency of pooping got lesser.

Gia, get triple paste. Return everything else...you will be so happy you did. It is the best over the counter medicated rash cream. IA hs rash will be gone immediately!!
my SIL uses scented disposable plastic bags (she gets them from Babies R Us) to dispose of the diapers. I think she just puts them in the trash or straight in the trash can in the garage.
