Re: The Detailed Thread About Obligatory Charity Tax (Zakat)

Zakat Payer Is a Man of Paradise:

Narrated Abu Huraira :razi: A Bedouin came to the Prophet :saw2: and said,** “Tell me of such a deed as will make me enter Paradise, if I do it.” The Prophet :saw2: said, “Worship Allah, and worship none along with Him, offer the (five) prescribed compulsory prayers perfectly, pay the compulsory zakat, and fast the month of Ramadan.” The Bedouin said, “By Him, in Whose Hands my life is, I will not do more than this.” When he (the Bedouin) left, the Prophet :saw2: said, “Whoever likes to see a man of Paradise, then he may look at this man.”**

Also Abu Zur’a :razi: narrated from the Prophet :saw2: the same as above.

**“Faith (Imaan)” of Zakat Payer - Testimony By Prophet Muhammad :saw2:

**It was narrated from 'Abdur-Rahman bin Ghanm that Abu Malik Al-Ash’ari told him that the Messenger of Allah :saw2: said: “Isbagh Al-Wudu is half of faith; Alhamdu lillah (praise be to Allah) fills the balance; the Tasbih and the Takbir fill the heavens and Earth; the Salah is light; the Zakah is a sign (of sincerity); patience is an illuminating torch; and the Qur’an is proof, either for you or against you.

Re: The Detailed Thread About Obligatory Charity Tax (Zakat)

This is little long hadith but worth to read it. If you have time then must read.**

Zakat on “Gold", "Silver”, “Camel”, “Cows (cattle) and sheep”, “Horse”, .**

Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger :saw2: as saying: If any owner of gold or silver does not pay what is due on him, when the Day of Resurrection would come, plates of fire would be beaten out for him; these would then be heated in the fire of Hell and his sides, his forehead and his back would be cauterized with them. Whenever these cool down, (the process is) repeated during a day the extent of which would be fifty thousand years, until judgment is pronounced among servants, and he sees whether his path is to take him to Paradise or to Hell.

It was said: Messenger of Allah, what about the camel? He (the Holy Prophet) said: If any owner of the camel does not pay what is due on him, and of his due in that (camel) is (also) to milk it on the day when it comes down to water. When the Day of Resurrection comes a soft sandy plain would be set for him, as extensive as possible, (he will find) that not a single young one is missing, and they will trample him with their hoofs and bite him with their mouths. As often as the first of them passes him, the last of them would be made to return during a day the extent of which would be fifty thousand years, until judgment is pronounced among servants and he sees whether his path is to take him to Paradise or to Hell.

It was (again) said: Messenger of Allah, what about cows (cattle) and sheep? He said: It any owner of the cattle and sheep does not pay what is due on them, when the Day of Resurrection comes a soft sandy plain would be spread for them, he will find none of them missing, with twisted horns, without horns or with a broken horn, and they will gore him with their horns and trample him with their hoofs. As often as the first of them passes him the last of them would be made to return to him during a day the extent of which would be fifty thousand years, until judgment would be pronounced among the servants. And he would be shown his path-path leading him to Paradise or to Hell.

It was said: Messenger of Allah, what about the horse? Upon this he said: The horses are of three types. To one than (these are) a burden, and to another man (these are) a covering, and still to another man (these are) a source of reward. The one for whom these are a burden is the person who rears them in order to show off, for vainglory and for opposing the Muslims; so they are a burden for him. The one for whom these are a covering is the person who rears them for the sake of Allah but does not forget the right of Allah concerning their backs and their necks, and so they are a covering for him. As for those which bring reward (these refer to) the person who rears them for the sake of Allah to be used for Muslims and he puts them in meadow and field. And whatever thing do these eat from that meadow and field would be recorded on his behalf as good deeds, as would also the amount of their dung and urine. And these would not break their halter and prance a course or two without having got recorded the amount of their hoof marks and their dung as a good deed on his behalf (on behalf of their owner). And their master does not bring them past a river from which they drink, though he did not intend to quench their thirst, but Allah would record for him the amount of what they drink on his behalf as deeds.

It was said: Messenger of Allah, what about the asses?, Upon this he said: Nothing has been revealed to me in regard to the asses (in particular) except this one verse of a comprehensive nature:" He who does an atom’s weight of good will see it, and he who does an atom’s weight of evil will see it" (xcix. 7).

Re: The Detailed Thread About Obligatory Charity Tax (Zakat)

Jahad is compulsory against those who don’t pay obligatory Zakat. Zakat is a pillar of Islam which is none replaceable either with Charity, Tax, ordinary charity (sadqa) etc**.***

Narrated Abu Huraira: When Allah’s Apostle ﷺ died and Abu Bakr became the caliph some Arabs renegade (reverted to disbelief) (Abu Bakr decided to declare war against them), Umar, said to Abu Bakr, "How can you fight with these people although Allah's Apostle ﷺ said, 'I have been ordered (by Allah) to fight the people till they say: "None has the right to be worshiped but Allah, and whoever said it then he will save his life and property from me except on trespassing the law (rights and conditions for which he will be punished justly), and his accounts will be with Allah.' " Abu Bakr said, "By Allah! I will fight those who differentiate between the prayer and the Zakat as Zakat is the compulsory right to be taken from the property (according to Allah's orders) By Allah! If they refuse to pay me even a she-kid which they used to pay at the time of Allah's Apostle ﷺ. I would fight with them for withholding it" Then Umar said, “By Allah, it was nothing, but Allah opened Abu Bakr’s chest towards the decision (to fight) and I came to know that his decision was right.”

Re: The Detailed Thread About Obligatory Charity Tax (Zakat)

I have been reading religious books recently trying to understand all this stuff now that I have time, I was curious, so anyone who doesn’t own Gold, Silver, Camel, Cows, Sheep, Horse, then they don’t have to pay Obligatory Zakat in Sunni tradition?

Re: The Detailed Thread About Obligatory Charity Tax (Zakat)

Peace @Pisiform,

If a person have amount in cash saved in house/bank or property or land or agriculture related things etc., then at some extend Zakat is payable.

Re: The Detailed Thread About Obligatory Charity Tax (Zakat)

**Zakat is due on gold. The threshold (nisab) of Gold is ‘Seven and Half Tola’ or ‘87 grams’ No Zakat deductible on less threshold.

**Ibn Umar and Aisha :razi: narrated that: "That from every twenty dinar or more. The Prophet Muhammad :saw2: used to take half a Dinar and from Forty Dinar, one Dinar.

  1. One Dinar was of gold and 20 Dinars were equal to seven and half tola.
  2. It is permissible to pay Zakat in shape of gold or in amount equivalence to gold.
  3. Zakat must be paid equal to gold price @ today’s rate.
