The Day of Judgment - Are We Ready?

Most of us are busy worrying about the day to day issues. How to get a raise in work, how to secure the position— or family, what new vacation spot to visit, what new fun activity to do. Exactly how man of us , I wonder, worry about the afterlife.

That we might be missing out one the real and true aspects of life as we chase after the materialistic things.

People seem to know that the thought or conversation about death will bring on strange and uncomfortable reactions, so its a subject people make an effort to avoid. Because Death is the End, to which there is no solution.

We all know one day we will die, but it is a hazy and distant thought. Something that hovers, yet never really settles down in our minds. I wonder how many of us really and truly try and make an effort to live as we have been commanded to do by Allah, and how many of us really think about the afterlife.

Some powerful verses that I found a must read.

What will convey to you what the Day of Judgment is? Again! What will convey to you what the Day of Judgment is? It is the Day when a self will have no power to help any other self in any way. The command that Day will be Allah’s alone. (Qur’an, 82:17-19)

Not so! All who submit themselves completely to Allah and are good-doers will find their reward with their Lord. They will feel no fear and know no sorrow. (Surat al-Baqara, 112)

Say: “Death, from which you are fleeing, will certainly catch up with you. Then you will be returned to the Knower of the Unseen and the Visible, and He will inform you about what you did.” (Surat al-Jumu‘a, 8)

Re: The Day of Judgment - Are We Ready?

So, How do you suppose we prepare ourselves for death?

Re: The Day of Judgment - Are We Ready?

God consciousness and changing our intentions. Making lots of zikr of Allah(swt).
We also need to ask for His guidance, for if He(swt) decides to guide us then there will be no one to misguide you and if He(swt) misguides you then no one can put you on the right path.

I listened to part of the translation my mom was listening to this morning, and the gist(close meaning) of it is : If you do not follow the path then Allah(swt) will replace you with people who are more pious.......

This definately sent chills down my spine.

And finally make an intention and ask Allah(swt) for guidance and inshaallah He(swt) will guide you - Ameen.

O' Allah(swt) guide us all to the path of siraat-al-mustaqeem - Ameen.
