The day I contemplated a hysterectomy

I am no good as a woman, forget making children stop crying, I make them START crying. The youngest started the moment his father left. They are my cousins. I tried music on tv, desi music, the “funny guy with the pagri” (I am not this racist under normal circumstances) on the desi channel, picking him up, speaking in a baby voice, singing.

I am no good. I should take out baby sitting from my resume.

Re: The day I contemplated a hysterectomy

dun overly blame urself, sometimes da kids are juz too bratty

Re: The day I contemplated a hysterectomy

Sarah,

Was this the first time they've spent time with you alone (w/o their parents)? Do you otherwise, see them/visit them often? It takes a little getting used to for the lil ones. How old were they?

Re: The day I contemplated a hysterectomy

Sehar,

No, it's not the first time. I've known them both since the day they were born. They are 4 and 2. I used to put them both to sleep, especially the baby boy would fall asleep in my arms with his hands wound around my hair and his drool all over my neck while I exhausted my meagre list of desi ganay to sing to him.

Re: The day I contemplated a hysterectomy

some kids are just brats, especially if they hardly ever stay without their paretns

Sarah,

Did you dance for them while u sang? That’s usually more entertaining lol. J/k. I’ve three nieces ages 5,3, and 2. The youngest two are total brats, but they love eating masha’Allah so put out anything for them like cookies, candies, fruit, they’ll take it. They are awed by makeup so we usually use the middle one as the model (she’s totally gonna be in tune with fashion, at 3 she sleeps with her velvet purse). Plus kids love when you involve them in activities, we usually make houses using pillows, or throw a sheet over the dining table and make a house under it. Or while cooking, ask them to throw stuff into the pot, etc.
